5 minutes ago Obviously, if you haven’t watched all of the Game Of Thrones episodes, then there are spoilers in this post and really, what are you doing If you haven’t seen all the episodes yet? Get on it! Game Of Thrones may be over, but the debates over the show probably won’t be ending any time soon. Part of what made the show one of the best of all time has been the endless debates about the series. Which battle was the best? Who was the worst villain? Should the show have slowed down the storylines at the end? What was Tyrion’s funniest line? (“I drink and I know things.”) Or this classic: Which Game Of Thrones episode is the best from each season? Eight seasons, 73 total episodes, we pick eight total. It’s a daunting task, especially in the early seasons when the show was so good you’d be hard-pressed to find a bad episode at all. There really are so many good ones! In fact, there are so many good episodes that many have to … [Read more...] about The Best Game Of Thrones Episode From Each Season
[This story contains spoilers for the series finale of HBO's Game of Thrones, "The Iron Throne."] As series creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss once wrote, and as a very evil and very dead man once said: "If you think this has a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention." Game of Thrones viewers came to understand those words all too well in "The Bells," the series' brutal penultimate episode in which Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) stormed King's Landing with fire and blood, killing thousands and thousands of innocent lives in the process. Given the shocking act of violence, any illusions about Game of Thrones ending on a happy note were well and fully eviscerated, rendered ash much like the rest of Westeros' central city. At the same time, it felt inconceivable that Benioff and Weiss would allow Daenerys to remain on the Iron Throne after such a disturbing conquest, certainly not when author George R.R. Martin and so many others in the Game of Thrones inner … [Read more...] about ‘Game of Thrones’ Series Finale: Who Won the Iron Throne?
[This story contains major spoilers for season eight, episode three of HBO's Game of Thrones, "The Long Night."] Throughout Game of Thrones, the red priestess Melisandre (Carice van Houten) often uttered the same chilling refrain: "The night is dark and full of terrors." In the end, she meant it: "The Long Night," the epic Battle at Winterfell episode from director Miguel Sapochnik ("Hardhome" and "Battle of the Bastards"), clocks in as the longest installment in Thrones history at 82 minutes — and the magnitude of the story more than meets the runtime. Heading into "The Long Night," everyone expected a huge loss for Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and their allies as they fought the Night King and the White Walkers. How many people expected a huge loss for the Army of the Dead, however? Well, if we may take a moment to gloat, here's an excerpt from a story published on The Hollywood Reporter a few days before the battle played out: "What are we … [Read more...] about ‘Game of Thrones’ Final Season: 23 Burning Questions After the Battle of Winterfell
14 minutes ago The perfect ending to Game of Thrones would be the end of the Iron Throne itself. Don't just stop the wheel. Break the wheel. The Iron Throne is the wheel that keeps the Westeros game turning. The first poster for Game of Thrones showed Hand of the King Ned Stark sitting on the Iron Throne. Season 8 is the final season, and the official poster focuses back on the Iron Throne but adds dragon eyes. Some may think that suggests a Targaryen on the throne -- Daenerys or Jon/Aegon -- but my wishful thinking is for that to foreshadow the destruction of the throne itself, perhaps by Drogon: The Iron Throne was forged from 1,000 swords surrendered to Aegon the Conqueror. His dragon Balerion melted down the swords and they were subsequently hammered together into the spiky, jagged, purposely uncomfortable throne. It would be great symmetry for another dragon to mark the end of the throne. Daenerys Targaryen is the one who told Tyrion Lannister she didn't want to stop the … [Read more...] about I Hope Game Of Thrones’ New Dragon Poster Teases The End Of The Iron Throne
