Former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway admitted in a new book what her former boss hates to hear: that he lost the 2020 presidential election. “Stuck in a parallel universe, many Trump supporters deluded themselves into thinking that somehow the president would remain in office or be reinstated once gone. Trump was more shocked to lose in 2020, I think, than he was to win in 2016,” Conway writes in her new book Here’s the Deal , according to Politico . “I may have been the first person Donald Trump trusted in his inner circle who told him that he had come up short this time,” she adds. Jen Psaki will join MSNBC this fall, as the network made the official announcement of her plans following her tenure as White House press secretary. Psaki will appear across all the network’s programs, and also will have a role on NBC and during MSNBC’s primetime election coverage during the midterms and the 2024 presidential election. MSNBC said that she also is developing a program for the network’s streaming channel. News of Psaki’s move to MSNBC leaked in April, as she was still press secretary, but she declined to confirm it publicly. She held her last White House press briefing on May 13. Her move to MSNBC is not unusual, as there has been a revolving door between presidential administrations and cable news gigs. David McCormick , one of two remaining Republican candidates for Senate in Pennsylvania , filed a lawsuit on Monday requesting that counties don’t discard absentee and mail-in ballots that lack handwritten dates. Mehmet Oz , the preferred candidate of former President Donald Trump, currently leads McCormick by fewer than 1,000 votes, and according to Maggie Haberman of The New York Times , the Republican National Committee and the Pennsylvania Republican Party are intervening to ensure these undated ballots are not counted. Under state law, ballots must be sealed and returned to election offices inside a second, outer envelop that voters must “fill out, date and sign.” The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on  Friday , however, that the requirement of a date beside one’s signature was “immaterial.” That three-judge panel concluded that rejecting a ballot based on a lack of signature would violate the Civil Rights Act. Chris Stirewalt , who was a veteran politics editor at Fox News until he was let go in the aftermath of the 2020 election, is joining NewsNation , Nexstar ’s non-partisan news venture. Stirewalt will “provide balanced and accurate political analysis throughout the election season,” NewsNation said in announcing the hire, adding that it also had established a broadcast partnership with Decision Desk HQ for election data and polling results. Stirewalt was dropped from Fox News in January 2021, in what the network said was a restructuring. But Stirewalt later wrote that he was fired from the network after defending the Fox News decision desk’s call of Arizona for Joe Biden on Election Night, the first major signal that then-President Donald Trump would lose his bid for re-election.
