January 16, 2023 by deadline.com

Jeremy Clarkson isn’t likely to make any more shows for Prime Video when his current commissioned seasons end. Deadline understands Clarkson, who makes The Grand Tour and Clarkson’s Farm for the streamer, will not sign another deal with Amazon Studios . New seasons that have already been commissioned will go ahead but he won’t likely be on Prime Video shows after 2024. The presenter has recently been under fire for a column he wrote in the The Sun newspaper in which he wrote he “hates” Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex. He also referred to a scene from Game of Thrones , in which Cersei Lannister is forced to strip naked and go on a ‘walk of shame,’ suggesting Markle should experience the same humiliation. “At night, I’m unable to sleep as I lie there, grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when she is made to parade naked through the streets of every town in Britain while the crowds chant, ‘Shame!’ and throw lumps of excrement at her,” he had written. … [Read more...] about Jeremy Clarkson Apologizes To Meghan Markle; Amazon Reportedly Set To Part Ways With ‘The Grand Tour’ Vet

The commercial broadcaster has greenlit a full series after last year piloting the game show with Stephen Mulhern , presenter of Britain’s Got More Talent . The show will be produced by Remarkable, which is part of Banijay UK. Deal or No Deal broadcast on Channel 4 for more than a decade before it was axed in 2016. The show was hosted by Noel Edmonds . On Deal or No Deal , contestants play and deal for a cash prize by opening boxes containing varying amounts of cash. They are faced with a game of odds as they decide whether to accept an offer of cash from “the Banker” in exchange for what might be in their own box. ITV’s revival of Deal or No Deal is the latest in a long line of reboots in the UK. January 22, 2023 by deadline.com

Writer-director Nicole Holofcener returns to Sundance for the fourth time with biting comedy You Hurt My Feelings . It’s her reunion with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who stars as a novelist with a marriage upended by overhearing her husband’s honest opinion of her latest book. Michaela Watkins, Arian Moayed and Jeannie Berlin also star. You Hurt My Feelings premieres today at 6:30 MST. Ahead of that, Holofcener shares some thoughts with Deadline on her latest film, the festival, and directing in pajamas, remotely, with a case of Covid. DEADLINE: You’re a writer. How personal is this film for  you? HOLOFCENER: The movie is personal to me in indirect ways. I’ve wondered about the questions that are raised in the film. Would I be able to feel ok if someone very close to me didn’t like my movies?  I’m sure plenty of people I know don’t like my movies, or not all of them, and I just don’t know it, thank god. But if I knew it? Somehow that would feel so … [Read more...] about ‘You Hurt My Feelings’ Director Nicole Holofcener Returns To Sundance, But “Please Don’t Call Me A Stalwart” – The Deadline Q&A

January 23, 2023 by deadline.com

Dawn Ostroff is departing Spotify as the company’s head of content and advertising amid cutbacks affecting 6% of the company’s workforce. Against a backdrop of austerity in the once-invincible tech sector, Spotify said it is shedding hundreds of jobs. In a memo to employees posted online, CEO Daniel Ek said he had been “too ambitious” in scaling up the company. “To bring our costs more in line, we’ve made the difficult but necessary decision to reduce our number of employees,” he explained. “While I believe this decision is right for Spotify, I understand that with our historic focus on growth, many of you will view this as a shift in our culture. But as we evolve and grow as a business, so must our way of working while still staying true to our core values.” Ek praised Ostroff for her contributions and said Alex Norström would assume her duties. Ostroff, a veteran of Condé Nast and the CW, joined the company in 2018. “Dawn has made a tremendous mark not only on … [Read more...] about Spotify Content And Ad Business Chief Dawn Ostroff Departing As Company Cuts 6% Of Workforce
