The hurdles are high. But if we learned anything from the recent vaccine development it should be that big things can happen when we all put our heads together, attack a common problem, and commit to making meaningful change. One easy change you can pledge to make is to walk the sustainable walk when shopping for shoes . Many titans of the footwear industry have probably earned a long walk of shame as shoe production accounts for a fifth of the fashion industry’s environmental impact and generates 1.4 percent of global carbon emissions annually. But nowadays, there are players like Allbirds and Rothy’s, as well as established giants like Adidas and Converse , who are thinking outside of the shoebox and making it easy to be green. A whole new world of vegan leather, bamboo … [Read more...] about Best Foot Forward: These 13 Shoe Brands Pair Style With Sustainability

RS Recommends: The Best Canned Cocktails to Sip On-the-Go This Season
If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Rolling Stone may receive an affiliate commission. We all had our hot hard seltzer summer moment last year, and that was admittedly a great time to be a refreshing drink-in-a-can. While hard seltzer has cemented its place in our backyard coolers for now, we like to think of that trend as more a stepping stone to recognizing that you don’t have to sacrifice well-crafted flavors for portability. The best canned cocktails, or ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktails, have really stepped up their game in the past few years, offering surprisingly upscale spirits, and in some case replicating the taste of a freshly mixed drink to a T, all in an easy-to-carry package. There are more diverse offerings than ever, from margs and ranch waters, to even whiskey cocktails and gin-based bevvies. Whatever your libation, we guarantee that there’s a canned cocktail out there for you. You may think that … [Read more...] about RS Recommends: The Best Canned Cocktails to Sip On-the-Go This Season

Fox has ordered a second season of Crime Scene Kitchen , a baking competition series hosted by Joel McHale. What Makes Tom Cruise’s Star Shine So Brightly? Directors Share Their Insights – Cannes Disruptors
Top Gun : Maverick ’s Cannes Film Festival premiere marks another high point in the movie star career of Tom Cruise . The actor turns 60 on July 3, and unlike most leading men of that age who become quicker to call for the stunt double, Cruise shows little evidence of slowing down after 43 films. If anything, his Mission: Impossible stunts seem to grow more ambitiously dangerous, not to mention the fact that he and director Doug Liman will become the first to actually shoot a space film in space for real—aboard one of Elon Musk’s SpaceX crafts with the cooperation of NASA. So how does Cruise continue to carve such a path? “I’ve gotten to work with a number of actors who’ve had great success and long careers, Tom being at the top of the heap,” says Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski. “He approaches every day with the enthusiasm that it’s his first movie, and at the same time puts the effort into it like it’s his last movie. That’s a good attitude … [Read more...] about What Makes Tom Cruise’s Star Shine So Brightly? Directors Share Their Insights – Cannes Disruptors
Neil Patrick Harris Sorry for Serving Platter of Amy Winehouse’s Corpse Months After Death
Neil Patrick Harris apologized for once serving a meat platter designed to look like Amy Winehouse ’s decaying corpse after a photo of the spread resurfaced online. Harris and his husband David Burtka had offered up the platter at Halloween party in 2011, three months after Winehouse died of alcohol poisoning at the age of 27 (the disturbing image can be seen via Buzzfeed ). In a statement shared with Entertainment Weekly , Harris said, “A photo recently resurfaced from a Halloween-themed party my husband and I hosted 11 years ago. It was regrettable then, and it remains regrettable now. Amy Winehouse was a once-in-a-generation talent, and I’m sorry for any hurt this image caused.” Winehoue had publicly battled substance abuse and discussed her struggles with depression and eating disorders in interviews and through her music. At the time, as Buzzfeed points out, the public could be ruthless towards celebrities, and making fun of their struggles was not uncommon. … [Read more...] about Neil Patrick Harris Sorry for Serving Platter of Amy Winehouse’s Corpse Months After Death

EXCLUSIVE: Bérénice Bejo ( The Artist) agreed that making Cannes opening-night film Final Cut (Coupez!) with filmmaker husband Michel Hazanavicius ( The Players) had been a family affair. RS Recommends: The Best Red Wines to Pair With Every Meal
If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Rolling Stone may receive an affiliate commission. Whether you’re sitting at dinner about to eat a bite of your perfectly seared steak or you’re winding down for the evening after an incredibly long day, a glass of red wine is always necessary. Although, with dozens of different types of red wines, including red blends, the choice for the right bottle can feel a bit daunting — especially if you’re in one of those wine stores that sort red wine rack after rack based on region. “Keep in mind what your preferences are in style of wine,” says Erin Swain, a Hampton-based Sommelier and wine educator. “Ask yourself: light, medium, or full body? Thin-skinned grapes make lighter styles of wine, so if you love Pinot Noir, try other thin-skinned varieties such as Nebbiolo (Barolo and Barbaresco).” Swain adds that fans of big bold flavors should try a California Cabernet, or my personal favorite, a … [Read more...] about RS Recommends: The Best Red Wines to Pair With Every Meal
