We’ve known for awhile already that there would be some unused footage of Carrie Fisher from the previously made Star Wars films that would be incorporated into J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode IX. Abrams initially talked about using the unused footage of Carrie Fisher, he only mentioned footage from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Here's that statement: "We desperately loved Carrie Fisher. Finding a truly satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga without her eluded us. We were never going to recast, or use a CG character. With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie, we have found a way to honor Carrie’s legacy and role as Leia in Episode IX by using unseen footage we shot together in Episode VII." It was later revealed that there would be unused footage from The Last Jedi as well. ABC News’ Clayton Sandell, previously talked to Carrie's brother Todd, and explained: "I talked to Todd Fisher today about all of this and he has been talking … [Read more...] about Carrie Fisher’s Brother Talks about the Unused Footage of Her That Will Be Included in STAR WARS: EPISODE IX
Star Wars: The Force Awakens will seamlessly fit into the plot of Episode IX. The passing of Carrie Fisher, for a moment, put things in an awkward place for the continuation of the Skywalker Saga. After all, her character was still alive at the end of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Ironically enough, with Fisher’s passing, Leia was the one who survived between her, Luke, and Han Solo. So J.J. Abrams stated that footage from The Force Awakens would be interwoven into Episode IX. A challenging task, no doubt, but Todd Fisher stated during his appearance on Good Morning America that the footage would fit well into the film’s narrative: “There’s a lot of minutes of footage. I don’t mean just outtakes. This is unused, new content that could be woven into the storyline. That’s what’s going to give everybody such a great kick. It’s going to look like it was meant to be. Like it was shot yesterday.” Also read: Mark Hamill … [Read more...] about Carrie Fisher’s Brother ‘Thrilled’ By Leia’s Scenes In ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’

It was a shock, in 2016, when the news broke that Carrie Fisher had died. Having just finished filming Catastrophe in London, she suffered a heart attack on the plane back to Los Angeles and died a few days later. With her death came the knowledge of what she meant to all of us. For me personally, I had just met her a few months before, at New York Comic Con. I went in to meet her, and the only picture I wanted to take was the two of us flipping off the camera. Watching as the entire room lit up when I asked just showed the kind of power she had. She didn’t care what people thought about her as long as she was true to herself. That legacy lives on in her fans, showing us all that we can be true to ourselves and honest about the state of our mental health, as well as everything else going on in our lives, because it’s what we need to do for ourselves. So, it isn’t surprising that fans and friends of Carrie’s are sharing stories today to honor her. The official … [Read more...] about Remembering Carrie Fisher: We Miss You, Space Mom
