Fox Sports has named Mark Silverman to the post of president, national networks, as competition with ESPN heats up.Silverman is promoted within the Fox organization after serving as president of the Big Ten Network, a joint venture between Fox Sports and the Big Ten Conference, where he led that network since its launch in 2007."Mark is an excellent, creative executive who has been in the Fox Sports family for over 11 years with great success," Eric Shanks, president and executive producer of Fox Sports, said Wednesday in a statement. Silverman grew the Big Ten Network to over 60 million subscribers across the U.S. and Canada.In his new role, Silverman will relocate to Los Angeles and oversee all programming, production, marketing, and digital for Fox, FS1 and FS2 live events and studio shows.
