The Jan. 6 committee warned of potential witness tampering by Trump loyalists at the close of Tuesday’s hearing. According to Punchbowl News, one of the examples of witness intimidation provided by the committee was sent to former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson . At the close of Hutchinson’s bombshell testimony Tuesday afternoon, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) revealed that the committee was aware of multiple instances in which witnesses testifying before the committee have been pressured by President Trump’s allies in attempts to manipulate their testimony. Cheney read a statement from a witness who said they would “stay in good graces in Trump World” if they continued to be a “team player.” The witness was also told to keep in mind that Trump does read transcripts while giving their deposition. In a second example, a witness was called before their deposition and told that “he knows you’re loyal, and you’re going to do the right thing when you go in for your … [Read more...] about Trump Allies Tried to Intimidate Cassidy Hutchinson Before Testimony: Report

Julia Roberts, George Clooney Reunite for Some Classic Rom-Com Hijinks in ‘Ticket to Paradise’
Julia Roberts and George Clooney reunite for some vintage rom-com magic in the new trailer for their upcoming movie, Ticket to Paradise , set to arrive Oct. 21. Directed by Mama Mia! Here We Go Again filmmaker Ol Parker, Ticket to Paradise boasts a classic set-up: Roberts and Clooney play a divorced couple who reluctantly agree to join forces as they fly to Bali to stop their head-over-heels daughter from marrying young and making the same mistake they did. It goes without saying that hijinks ensue. The trailer is packed with all the good stuff as Roberts and Clooney quibble and sling one-liners back-and-forth as they try to enact their plan. But it also goes without saying that the former couple also learns to enjoy each other’s company again as they mortify their daughter by dancing to House of Pain’s “Jump Around,” and prove they’ve still got a knack for drinking games. Ticket to Paradise also stars Billie Lourd, Kaitlyn Dever, and Lucas Bravo. It marks the first … [Read more...] about Julia Roberts, George Clooney Reunite for Some Classic Rom-Com Hijinks in ‘Ticket to Paradise’
Machine Gun Kelly Gives a Bloody After Party Performance After Smashing a Glass Against His Own Face
Machine Gun Kelly marked his sold-out show at Madison Square Garden by marking up his face at the after party. The musician gleefully shared footage of the bloody incident on his Instagram Stories . In the first clip, he stood on a table in a restaurant and proclaimed to a gathered crowd, “Bro, I don’t give a shit—“ before smashing a champagne glass on his forehead (the clip was aptly captioned, “and this is when things turned…”). In the next video, MGK performed part of his Tickets to My Downfall song, “My Ex’s Best Friend” as blood poured down his face and he held a bloody rag in his hand. MGK, of course, is known for indulging in a little Jackass- ery himself, even making a cameo in the stunt-comedy troupe’s latest film Jackass Forever . That said, we hope his champagne smashing doesn’t leave a scar he feels obligated to cover up — we gather he doesn’t exactly like rock musicians who wear masks . Machine Gun Kelly’s summer tour will continue later this week, … [Read more...] about Machine Gun Kelly Gives a Bloody After Party Performance After Smashing a Glass Against His Own Face
Broken Bells Return With Spaced-Out Ambitions on New Song ‘We’re Not in Orbit Yet’
Broken Bells — the duo of Brian Burton (a.k.a. Danger Mouse ) and Shins frontman James Mercer — are back with a new song, “We’re Not in Orbit Yet…” The track will appear on the duo’s upcoming album, Into the Blue . “We’re Not in Orbit Yet…” finds Broken Bells blending some folky, acoustic undertones with an array of spaced-out synths, creating a vibe that feels at once retro and futuristic. The song’s music video — directed by Johnny Chrew — matches that sonic vibe with grainy footage of Broken Bells interspersed with an eerie array of vintage sci-fi imagery. Broken Bells’ last full-length album, After the Disco , was released in 2014. Since then, the group has remained relatively quiet, though they have trickled out three songs in the intervening years: 2015’s “It’s That Talk Again,” 2018’s “Shelter,” and 2019’s “Good Luck.” Into the Blue , which will mark Broken Bells’ first album in eight years, doesn’t have an official release date or track list yet. But … [Read more...] about Broken Bells Return With Spaced-Out Ambitions on New Song ‘We’re Not in Orbit Yet’
Port of Morrow
The Shins ‘ 2004 microhit “New Slang” established one of the more pliant templates in 2000s pop – Feist , Bon Iver and Mumford & Sons all owe something to its frumpy intimacy and strummy, mumbled moodiness. But James Mercer has been stretching for something grander ever since; 2007’s Wincing the Night Away was almost prog-rock in its micromanaged ambition. On the first Shins record in five years, he nails a balance of economy and sweep, matching the studio lushness he craves with the secondhand melodicism that made “New Slang” resonate beyond the vegan cookouts of his base in Portlandia. Port of Morrow has more of a studio-sculpture auteurist vibe than ever. Mercer and producer Greg Kurstin send filaments of Sixties and Seventies radio gold and Nineties indie pop through a picturesque psychedelia – from the “Be My Baby” cathedral boom of “Simple Song” (with Janet Weiss mutilating the drums) to “For a Fool,” soul-pop balladry as a mossy Upper Northwest guitar nod. … [Read more...] about Port of Morrow
