Lamont Dozier , who along with his songwriting and producing partners Brian and Eddie Holland was a pioneer and driving force of Detroit’s beloved “ Motown Sound” of the 1960s and ’70s, died Monday in Arizona. He was 81. His death was announced on Instagram today by his son Lamont Dozier Jr. No cause or additional details were given, with Lamont Jr. writing only, “Rest in Heavenly Peace, Dad!” The famous Holland-Dozier-Holland team was the force behind such iconic Motown hits as “Heatwave” by Martha and The Vandellas; numerous hits by The Supremes , including chart-toppers “Where Did Our Love Go” and “Baby Love”; and scores of songs by The Four Tops (“Baby, I Need Your Loving,” “I Can’t Help Myself [Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch]”), The Isley Brothers (“This Old Heart of Mine”) and Marvin Gaye (“Can I Get A Witness?”). Lamont Dozier, Motown Songwriter Behind Countless Classics, Dead at 81
Lamont Dozier, the Motown songwriter and producer who helped craft hits for artists such as the Supremes, the Four Tops, and the Isley Brothers, has died. He was 81. The news was confirmed by his son, Lamont Dozier Jr., who wrote on Instagram , “Rest in Heavenly Peace, Dad!” A cause of death has not yet been announced. Dozier was born in Detroit on June 16, 1941 and launched his career in music as a singer, performing with various local doo-wop groups like the Romeos and the Voicemasters. In 1962, he signed to the Berry Gordy’s fledgling Motown records as an artist, producer, and songwriter, and quickly found himself working with brothers Brian and Eddie Holland. TMZ Composite Issa Rae is showing her support, after a pregnant woman and 5 others died in a tragic car crash near her hometown ... donating money to help the woman's family in the wake of the devastating loss. The family of 23-year-old Asherey Ryan set up a GoFundMe to raise $100K to help cover funeral expenses for the young mother. Not only was Asherey killed in the crash last week in Windsor Hills -- her 11-month-old son, Alonzo , and her unborn child also died -- the money raised will go toward their funeral expenses as well. The family has received lots of support ... exceeding their goal by $50K. 20th Century Studios said Tuesday that its Predator spinoff Prey has notched the No. 1 premiere on Hulu to date across all of the streamer’s films and television series. The film also registered as the most-watched premiere on Star+ in Latin America and Disney+ under the Star Banner in all other territories, based on hours watched in the first three days of its release. Specific stats as to its viewership have not been disclosed. Getty Actress Denise Dowse , famous for her roles on "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Insecure" is currently fighting for her life in a coma, TMZ has learned. Denise's sister, Tracey , revealed the news late last week, saying, "I am requesting support and prayers be offered me and my sister, and my only immediate family Denise Dowse." Tracey continues, "She is currently in the hospital in a coma brought on by a virulent form of meningitis. Her doctors do not know when she will come out of the coma as it was not medically induced." It's unclear where Denise is currently hospitalized, but Tracey says her sister should have many years ahead of her, and all thoughts, prayers and support are greatly appreciated.
