8 Teasing the Big Bad D-RexIn this day and age, movies need to sell their monsters up front. The art of the true tease has been lost to CGI magic and the dire need to make a buck at the box office. Jurassic World benefits from its hardcore fanbase in that it doesn't even need a trailer to sell the movie. Back in the 80s, we never knew what we were going to see on screen, and director Steven Spielberg was a master at this. Just look at the way he introduces E.T. We see shadows, we see outlines. We see fingers. By the time we actually see the little creature, we're sweating like junkies for a fix. We need it! Even though we know damn well what a T-Rex looks like, Steven Spielberg pulled off the same type of hidden magic with Jurassic Park, an art he perfected shooting Jaws, which was more about necessity than anything else. Sudhir Mishra's Daas Dev has an interesting core but, it's the weak writing which makes the film suffer.
