Outfest has announced the complete lineup for its 40th-anniversary Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ+ Film Festival , which will take place from July 14-24 at multiple locations throughout Los Angeles. More than 200 films, representing 29 countries, will screen as part of this year’s lineup. 42 will make their world premieres, including the doc Stay on Board: The Leo Baker Story from Drew Barrymore’s Flower Films and Pulse Films; the UK feature Phea , starring Sherika Sherard; Mercedes Kane’s Art and Pep ; and Scout Durwood’s Youtopia. Drugs, Bluegrass, and Bass Fishing: How Billy Strings Outran His Past and Infiltrated the Mainstream
Billy Strings backs his black Jeep Gladiator down to the lip of Nashville’s Percy Priest Lake and hops out to unhook the tricked-out bass boat he’s towing behind him. The heavy sounds of Primus, one of his favorite bands, spill loudly out of the cab, where old Combos wrappers, cigarette butts, and fishing lures are strewn about. Strings, in a Dickies work coat with “Boomer” embroidered over the heart and a “Billy Strings” patch on the opposite side, lets his cigarette dangle from his mouth while he frees the boat from the trailer in a pair of white fishing gloves. “I love this little fucker,” he says, tossing me a line attached to the boat before jumping back into the Jeep to park it nearby. “Just walk it into the water like a dog — and don’t let it float away.” Soon, Strings is bounding back down the parking lot, onto the small dock, and behind the wheel of his boat, a 16-foot Tracker he bought as a birthday gift to himself a few years ago. ‘Bridgerton’s Charithra Chandran To Star In Meet Cute’s ‘A Mid-Semester Night’s Dream’
EXCLUSIVE : Charithra Chandran , who plays Edwina in Netflix’s smash hit period drama Bridgerton , is to star in a rom-com podcast series. Chandran, who also starred in Alex Rider, will lead A Mid-Semester Night’s Dream , from Meet Cute , the podcast company that specializes in rom-com stories. The series follows a group of graduate students doing a semester on Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, who discover a magical edition of the play which makes people fall in love with whoever reads from it. Apple TV+ Orders ‘The Buccaneers’-Inspired Drama Series; Kristine Froseth, Alisha Boe, Josie Totah Among Lead Cast
Apple TV + has given an eight-episode series order to a one-hour drama inspired by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Edith Wharton’s unfinished final novel The Buccaneers , with Kristine Froseth (The Assistant) , Alisha Boe ( When You Finish Saving The World), Josie Totah (Saved by the Bell) , Aubri Ibrag ( Dive Club), Imogen Waterhouse ( The Outpost ) and Mia Threapleton (Shadows) cast as the buccaneers.
