Sherry Lansing, Anne Sweeney, Disney's Dana Walden, Lori Greiner and Amazon Studios' Jennifer Salke were among those to celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Hollywood Reporter's Women in Entertainment Mentorship Program presented by Lifetime on Monday night. Salke was joined by WME's Nancy Josephson on a panel at the Sunset Tower Hotel to reflect on the past 10 years of the program, which has paired more than 200 high school girls with industry leaders. The program has given away $7.8 million in scholarships over the decade. Ashtead Group Acquires Movie Equipment Rental Giant William F. White International
The U.K.-based company is buying the Canadian production equipment and services company as a local Hollywood film boom gathers pace. As Ontario's Hollywood film boom grows, The Ashtead Group has acquired William F. White International, Canada's biggest film, TV and digital production equipment rental business. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the U.K.-based equipment rental giant — which is colloquially called "Whites" and runs the Sunbelt U.S. construction and industrial equipment rental division —is entering the film production equipment rental business as deep-pocketed Hollywood streamers and studios aggressively lock up studio space, talent and crews in and around Toronto. Paul McCartney Animated Film ‘High in the Clouds’ Headed to Netflix
A film adaptation of Paul McCartney’s children’s novel, High in the Clouds, is headed to Netflix. Per a statement, High in the Clouds tells the story of a teenage squirrel named Wirral who finds himself “pulled into a ramshackle gang of teenage rebels who live high in the clouds after he accidentally antagonizes Gretsch the owl, the tyrannical leader (and fabulous singer!), who steals the voice of anyone who upstages her.” A release date has yet to be announced. McCartney, co-author Philip Ardagh and illustrator Geoff Dunbar published High in the Clouds in 2005, and a film adaptation was first reported in 2013. Two years later, it was revealed that McCartney had written seven or eight new songs for the movie, including one featuring Lady Gaga.
