2 minutes ago Well over a year has passed since the last season of Stranger Things, and Netflix only recently released a full trailer revealing some of what's to come in Season 3. Set to a cut of The Who's "Baba O'Riley," the trailer featured plenty of footage but not a ton of context. There's a new monster, some new 80s-tastic outfits, and all kinds of action, including some that has fans worried about Steve. Now, a trailer for the Season 3 video game has released, and it seems to confirm some details. First, take a look at the game trailer, and then we'll get into the confirmed details: At first glance, the Stranger Things 3: The Game trailer actually looks a lot like the trailer for Stranger Things Season 3. It opens with the shot of Dustin being surprised by his friends (and poor Lucas getting sprayed in the face for his efforts), the kids in the field, Billy being ogled by women at the pool, Dustin and Steve high-fiving, Eleven and Max at the mall, an 80s-style goon with a … [Read more...] about Does Stranger Things’ New Game Trailer Confirm Season 3 Details?

Maybe it was just the neon and nostalgia tinged promise of a sequel to cyberpunk cult classic Beneath A Steel Sky, or the handsome first glimpse of a game from Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, but Apple’s new gaming service Apple Arcade looks to be pressing all the right buttons. Or touchscreens, in this case. There is a perception among some in video games that mobile titles are not ‘proper’ games. That the rise of smartphone gaming, which now accounts for over half of the $140bn gaming industry, is defined by time-wasting apps, wonky clones and free-to-play titles that convince you to part with your money in ever increasingly nefarious ways. There is a truth to that, of course, with mobile platforms certainly a breeding ground for questionable practices that have since spread to consoles and PC. But they are also host to some of the most inventive games of the last decade; titles like Simogo’s Device 6, the mind-bending art of Gorogoa or narrative … [Read more...] about Never mind Google, Apple Arcade could make the iPhone maker a major player in gaming
Charlie Brooker's latest Black Mirror offering is impossible to recap and won't be able to be reviewed in the traditional sense: The stand-alone event — which is actually an interactive film — will play out differently for each viewer. And while that may sound like an idea for an episode of the Emmy-winning techno-paranoia series, Netflix has made it a reality for viewers. On Friday, the steaming giant dropped its first live-action interactive experience with Black Mirror: Bandersnatch. Leading up to its Dec. 28 debut, Netflix released a trailer for Bandersnatch but hid the fact that the TV event — and first official Black Mirror stand-alone movie — is a choose your own adventure-style story that has been two years in the making. "We realized that playing it a little more quiet means that more people will ultimately try it and give it a chance, rather than if they were ruminating on it for a while," Carla Engelbrecht told The Hollywood Reporter about the … [Read more...] about ‘Black Mirror’ Interactive Film: Inside the 2-Year Journey of ‘Bandersnatch’
36 seconds ago The designer of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is moving up in the world of licensed-based property game development. It's recently been announced that Jam City will adopt and create various games based on Disney properties. Disney and Jam City have partnered over the course of several years to make a number of games based on Disney and Pixar properties. Initially, Jam City will take over development of Disney's Emoji Blitz, which will continue to operate for mobile devices since launching back in 2016. The game is currently available over on the iTunes App Store as a free-to-play emoji-collection game with a puzzle element. The collaboration will also see Disney moving some of its resources over to Jam City. Members of the Glendale Games Studio will move to Jam City to help with the development of brand new mobile games based on properties made popular by Pixar and the Walt Disney Animation Studios. So expect announcements for popular games from the Pixar … [Read more...] about Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery Dev Signs Deal To Make Mobile Games For Disney
6 minutes ago While series fans are going to have to keep holding their breath for Diablo IV, Blizzard announced this week that a new series entry, Diablo Immortal, will soon arrive on mobile. It might not be the game diehards were hoping for, but it actually looks like a rather impressive game for the platform. Heading into this year's Blizzcon, Blizzard representatives stated that fans eagerly anticipating the next numbered entry in the Diablo series shouldn't get their hopes up. They stated point-blank that the game is being worked on, but nobody should expect an announcement quite yet. What got announced instead was a new entry in the Diablo universe that, if I'm being honest, looks pretty rad. I'm not typically a fan of mobile games, but based on the above trailer, Blizzard looks to have pulled out all the stops to make sure Immortal is true to the spirit of the Diablo series. Despite that fact, the reaction at the event leaned super hard in the negative reaction because, … [Read more...] about There’s A New Diablo Game After All, But It’s Not What You Think
