The titles include Italian YA drama The Sea Beyond , Spanish investigative drama Rapa and German WWII miniseries The Turncoat . The Sea Beyond , revolving around young inmates in a Naples prison, has enjoyed strong ratings in Italy on Rai, RaiPlay and Netflix since its launch in late 2020. The third season is currently enjoying linear success on Rai2. Rapa , which was the most watched show on Spanish streamer Movistar Plus+ in 2022, follows a high school teacher and local police officer in the Spanish port city of Ferrol, who form an unlikely team in solving a murder case. The move will see Taberski create four new podcasts for the studio, which is behind many of his previous hits. It comes as the podcasting world begins to evolve with an increasing number of talent deals, ala the television and film world. However, the franchise may continue on the network — The L Word: New York (working title), a reboot of the groundbreaking original series, is in development with the 2004 series’ creator Ilene Chaiken expected to be involved in some capacity, I hear. The L Word: Generation Q ‘s cancellation comes two months after the series’ third season ended its run. No Showtime series has been renewed since the January announcement that the premium cable network will be integrated into Paramount+ across both streaming and linear later this year and renamed as Paramount+ with Showtime. Imagine Entertainment co-founders, Oscar winners and USC School of Cinematic Arts alums Brian Grazer and Ron Howard will deliver the school’s commencement address in May, the university said Thursday. Grazer, who also serves on the School of Cinematic Arts Board of Councilors, received a BA in Psychology at USC in 1974. Howard attended courses at the School of Cinematic Arts. Both received honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degrees from USC in 2022. Gunter Nezhoda , a recurring and popular competitive bidder in A&E’s long-running show Storage Wars , died Tuesday in Utah six months after being diagnosed with lung cancer. He was 67. His death was announced in an Instagram video posted by his son Rene Nezhoda. In the video, Rene Nezhoda says that his father was a smoker for 30 years and while the family remained hopeful throughout the last six months his condition had recently deteriorated to the point where doctors could do no more. He said his father passed away peaceful in his sleep, adding, “no more pain.” “He was one of the guys on Storage Wars that never really got any hate,” Rene Nezhoda said. “People just loved being around him.” Storage Wars chronicles professional buyers of abandoned storage units as they bid against one another on units sight-unseen (or mostly unseen).
