One decade after losing her mother, brother and nephew to senseless gun violence in her hometown of Chicago, Jennifer Hudson continues to honor their lives by giving back through the Julian D. King Gift Foundation.Named after her late nephew, the foundation was created by Jennifer and her sister, Julian's mother, Julia, back in 2008 after their murders, and it has since served thousands of youth in the Chicago area through Hatch Day, an event held on Julian's birthday, August 14, providing school supplies for the upcoming school year.AOL caught up with Hudson on this year's eighth annual Hatch Day, held on what would've been Julian's 17th birthday, where she explained that the day of giving grew out of a choice that she made 10 years ago when she lost her family members."Obviously, these are things you can't predict. LISA Riley has revealed she’s hasn’t had the cancer gene test, despite being fearful of dying. The 42-year-old has lost her grandad, two grandmothers and her mum to cancer - leaving her concerned she too might carry the gene. But the actress has decided not to undergo tests because she wants to just live her life. She told Sunday People: “I haven't had the test. I can't live my life waiting for cancer to hit me. My mum didn't know, my granny didn't know, none of them knew. “But I am fearful. I have loads of extra checks now. The doctors are all over me! And I encourage women to check themselves.” The star added: “Never feel like you're wasting a doctor's time. Just don't consult Doctor Google. That will have you dead and buried.” Lisa’s mum passed away in 2012 after battling with cancer since 2000 and the star admits she still struggles with the loss. The Associated Press Published 4:03 p.m. UTC Jun 11, 2018 Monroe, Wis. – A small plane has crashed in southern Wisconsin, killing four family members. The Green County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened just after noon Sunday about a mile north of the Monroe Municipal Airport. Sheriff Mark Rohloff says the single-engine Cessna 182T went down in a field and struck some trees. WKOW-TV reports that Rohloff says the pilot was a grandmother and the three passengers were her 17-year-old granddaughter, 13-year-old grandson and the teens’ mother. All four died at the scene. The Wisconsin State Journal reports that Rohloff says the plane was scheduled to arrive in Monroe after taking off from the Kenosha Regional Airport in the morning. Rohloff says a witness heard the plane losing power, saw it descending and noticed flames coming from it. Firefighters put out a fire at the scene. However, it is also one so few are willing to talk about. According to Norfolk Trading Standards, more than half of people over-65 have been targeted by scammers either on the phone, in person or via other means. Now, a new initiative has been launched to try and make Norfolk one of the country’s leading lights in tackling this issue, with a new partnership and awareness campaign. Norfolk Against Scamming Partnerships is an NTS initiative which is aiming to to raise awareness of scamming and help people avoid falling a victim to it.
