EXCLUSIVE : Charlotte Gainsbourg ( Antichrist ) and Hugh Bonneville ( Downton Abbey ) are set to star in WWII spy thriller Lives In Secret from Resident Evil producer Jeremy Bolt. Paris-based sales firm Other Angle will be selling the project at this week’s virtual EFM . Gainsbourg play World War Two intelligence officer Vera Atkins, who made it her mission to discover the fate of missing agents she had dispatched to Occupied France after the conflict. The feature is adapted from the Sarah Helm’s A Life in Secrets, telling the true story of Atkins, an intelligence officer for Special Operation Executive’s French Section who trained and dispatched hundreds of agents to Occupied France, many of whom didn’t return. Atkins was also involved in the interrogation of Rudolf Hess, the notorious commandant of the Auschwitz concentration camp. Epix and Paramount Pictures today announced an expansion of their relationship that includes an extension of their existing U.S. pay TV output deal on mutually beneficial terms. Under the new agreement, many of Paramount’s theatrically-released films will premiere earlier than before in pay TV on EPIX. The two companies will share priority on the pay television debut of Paramount’s film slate. Many of Paramount’s theatrically released movies will be available first in an exclusive 90 day pay television window with EPIX, before becoming available on both Paramount+ and Epix. The remaining theatrically released films will be available first on the Paramount+ service following their theatrical runs, before starting a shared pay one window on EPIX. This week of Berlin International Film Festival announcements comes to a close with the main course – the Competition and Special Screenings programs. Scroll down for the full lists. The 15-strong Competition – all world premieres – includes titles from filmmakers including Celine Sciamma, Daniel Bruhl and Xavier Beauvois. Celine Sciamma is following on from her Golden Globe-nominated Portrait Of A Lady On Fire with her next movie, Petite Maman, which only went into production in November; plot details are hush but it is understood to star two eight-year-olds. Actor-turned-filmmaker Bruhl also plays the protagonist in his directorial debut, Next Door , which centers on a film star and his troublesome neighbor.
