Amazon Freevee has announced that it will stream Casa Grande , a bilingual limited series that examines the everyday realities and conflicts between California’s migrant workforce and the landowners who reap the profits. EXCLUSIVE : Roku has quickly found its new scripted boss. The free-ad supported streaming service has promoted Brian Tannenbaum to oversee scripted content following news of Colin Davis’ departure to Sony Pictures Television. Deadline understands that he will initially take on the role on an interim basis, but sources suggest that he will likely get the job on a permanent basis. Deadline revealed earlier this afternoon that Davis, who was Head of Scripted Originals, is joining the studio as EVP, Comedy Development. Tannenbaum has spent the last couple of years as Head of Alternative Originals and will now oversee all original programming for the service. It’s believed that he will become Head of Originals, after David Eilenberg was upped to Head of Content at Roku Media, following the departure of Rob Holmes earlier this year. Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell will soon be back to work at Good Burger . Nickelodeon Studios and Paramount+ have officially confirmed the greenlight of Good Burger 2 , an original movie sequel to the iconic feature film, based on the recurring sketch from comedy series All That . Thompson and Mitchell are set to reprise their classic roles as Dexter and Ed, respectively. The movie will follow Dexter Reed (Thompson) and original cashier, Ed (Mitchell), as they reunite in the present day at fast-food restaurant Good Burger with a hilarious new group of employees. As the latest in a flood of atmospheric river events hit Souther California today, several local theme parks closed their gates. Magic Mountain shut down for the second time in as many months as winds associated with the current storm blasted a nearby peak with force equivalent to a Cat. 2 hurricane. Magic Mountain Truck Trail , a site on the peak for which the park is named, is often the windiest spot in and around Los Angeles . It lived up to that reputation overnight, clocking wind gusts early this morning has high as 102 mph. Further downslope in Saugus, where the the park is located, winds gusted to 57 mph. As a result, the theme park posted an announcement that it would be closed “due to inclement weather .” L.A.’s other major park, Universal Studios Hollywood, which has good slope and drainage and fewer outdoor, vertically-inclined rides, is maintaining its normal hours today. Paramount+ is well ahead of its target to greenlight 150 non-U.S. originals by 2025 but international boss Marco Nobili wishes the streamer could have rolled out quicker. Addressing Series Mania this afternoon, Nobili said “if I could have accelerated our rollout then I would have” when questioned on how he would have done things differently over the past two years. “But you have to balance these things out,” he countered. “Sometimes staggering a launch proves to be the right recipe. If you show audiences the window you can get straight out the gate but could compromise on show quality.” Nobili added: “We could maybe have done an even faster rollout but looking back it was a challenge and we are proud of how it has worked out.” Paramount+ is now live in dozens of territories around the world and is well ahead of its target to greenlight 150 originals by 2025, Nobili revealed.
