Hulu has set a premiere date for its new original comedy starring comedian Chris Estrada . This Fool, which is inspired by the life and stand-up of Estrada, will launch Aug. 12 and is from ABC Signature . The comedy is set in working-class South Central Los Angeles and centers on Julio Lopez (Estrada), a 30-year-old who still lives at home. Julio has been dating his girlfriend on and off since high school and works at Hugs Not Thugs, a nonprofit that offers rehabilitation for gang members. He and his family take in his older cousin Luis, an ex-gang member who just got out of prison. Ten episodes are planned for the first season. Besides Estrada, the series stars Frankie Quinones as Luis, Laura Patalano as Esperanza, Michelle Ortiz as Maggie, Julia Vera as Maria and Michael Imperioli as Minister Payne. ‘Call Me Kat’ Renewed For Season 3 At Fox
Call Me Kat has been renewed for a third season at Fox. The Mayim Bialik -led series follows her titular character, a 39-year-old single woman named Kat, who struggles every day against society and her mother to prove that you can not have everything you want yet still be happy. After leaving her job as a professor at the University of Louisville, she spends the money her parents set aside for her wedding to open a cat café in Louisville. Exec produced by Bialik and her Big Bang Theory partner Jim Parsons , the series is an adaptation of the long-running hit BBC sitcom Miranda . Deadline recently announced their latest project under the banner for Onyx, the limited docuseries Gigante , in collaboration with Don Francisco. Producing unscripted and scripted feature films, series, and podcasts, Trojan Horse recently co-produced the four-part docuseries Menudo: Forever Young , directed by Angel Manuel Soto and Kristofer Rios. A review of this week’s Better Call Saul , “Axe and Grind,” just as soon as we sidebar in the law library… “Relax. You got away with it.” —Kim’s mom What happens to Kim? This is a question I asked regarding the last Saul episode to feature young Kim (still played by Katie Beth Hall, with her hair pulled partially back, but not yet in the full power- ponytail of adult Kim) and Kim’s mom (Beth Hoyt, who still looks and sounds uncannily like Rhea Seehorn). That episode, “Wexler V. Goodman,” opened with young Kim walking away from her drunken mother rather than getting into a car with her. It closed with Kim explaining in great detail why she had every good reason to break up with Jimmy, only for her to declare at the last moment that perhaps they should get married instead.
