The snow monkey’s work is not over yet: Hulu has renewed Hit-Monkey for a second season. Co-created and executive produced by Josh Gordon and Will Speck, the first season of the Marvel series follows a Japanese snow monkey after its tribe was slaughtered. He joins forces with the ghost of an American assassin and together, they begin killing their way through the Yakuza underworld. The first season consisted of 10 episodes and launched in November of 2021. Season two will follow Bryce and Monkey to New York City. Olivia Munn will return to voice Akiko, the smart and ambitious niece of the future prime minister, while Jason Sudeikis will be back as Bryce, a world-weary assassin who has made poor life choices. Also returning to the series are Fred Tatasciore as Hit-Monkey — described as the killer of killers — and Ally Maki as Haruka, an honest cop from a small town. ‘Poker Face’: “Endless Possibilities” For Natasha Lyonne’s Human BS Detector To Keep Solving Crimes Past Season 1
Poker Face , Rian Johnson ’s drama series starring Natasha Lyonne as a human bullsh*t detector, wasn’t conceived as a limited series and the Knives Out filmmaker said there are “endless possibilities” to continue in success. Lyonne stars as Charlie, an effortlessly cool, cheap beer drinking woman with a preternatural ability to solve crimes. After a casino boss seeks her out to use her abilities for nefarious purposes, Charlie goes on the run and gets mixed up in more crimes. Johnson says that it’s a “how to catch ‘em” rather than a whodunnit as the crime is front and center in each episode. But while there’s one story that arcs through the ten-episode season, one involving Benjamin Bratt’s security expert, it’s ostensibly a procedural. SXSW Second Wave Includes UAR’s ‘Bottoms’, Donald Glover’s ‘Swarm’ Series, Michelle Yeoh’s ‘American Born Chinese’ & More
South by Southwest on Wednesday revealed the second half of its lineup for this year’s edition, set for March 10-19. This includes Visions, the Global section presented by Mubi, 24 Beats, and Festival Favorites plus numerous additions to the Headliners, TV Premieres, Narrative and Documentary Spotlight and other sections. New on the sked is Janine Nabers and Donald Glover ’s Amazon Studios series Swarm and Lee Sung Jin’s Beef , respectively the opening- and closing-night TV premieres. They join the previously announced opening-night world premiere of Paramount’s Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves . This year’s closing-night film will be announced closer to the event. In addition, there is another movie to be announced for the fest’s Monday, March 13 slot.
