It marked the largest debut after House of the Dragon since Boardwalk Empire launched in 2010. The Game of Thrones spinoff made history last year by premiering with 9.986M viewers across linear and HBO Max – the largest audience for any new original series in the history of pay cabler. Period drama Boardwalk Empire, which starred Steve Buscemi, launched in 2010 with 4.81M viewers tuning in to its premiere on its linear network. The Last of Us is gaining traction. In its second week, the series jumped 22% from its debut viewership, drawing 5.7M viewers on Sunday night. That’s about a million more than the audience that tuned in for the premiere episode last week, and it marks the largest week 2 audience growth for an HBO Original drama series in the history of the network. Since it debuted, the first episode has now tallied nearly four times its premiere night audience, currently tracking around 18M viewers. "The Bachelor" contestant who got a leg up on her competition during the premiere is now taking serious heat online, and it's forced her to apologize for some resurfaced tweets defending a blackface costume. Greer Blitzer , who got the first impression rose on Monday night's episode, almost immediately found herself the target of Twitter sleuths who dug up her posts from 2016. Tuesday she responded by admitting she "used misguided arguments on Twitter to defend a student who dressed in Blackface as Tupac for Halloween." Greer says she wants to apologize "to those I have hurt, especially those within the Black community" -- claiming she isn't sorry because of the screenshots, but because she had those opinions in the first place. Gregory Allen Howard , the first African American screenwriter for a $100 million drama with Remember The Titan s, died today in Miami after a brief illness, his publicist said. He was 70. Howard also was the only African American screenwriter to write a spec script that became a $100 million movie, also for Remember the Titans , which starred Denzel Washington and was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. His credits included Ali, starring Will Smith and Jamie Foxx, directed by Michael Mannas, as well as the award-winning stage play Tinseltown Trilogy . Howard was a two-time winner of the NAACP Image Awards, and also won the Christopher Award, the Howard University Paul Robeson Award for artistic excellence, and the Heartland Film Festival Award for screenwriting excellence.
