Want Warriors news in your inbox? Sign up for the free DubsDaily newsletter. Thompson, perhaps the most unassuming star in the NBA, was walking off the floor in Phoenix on Sunday when an overzealous fan reached out and grabbed his wrist. The normally easy-going Thompson clearly wasn’t happy with being accosted by the man, but resisted the temptation to confront him. Fortunately for Thompson and the Warriors, the man didn’t mess with his recently healed fractured right thumb. Perhaps the fan merely went too far in trying to grab Thompson’s attention, but it’s strange to see Thompson being treated so rudely by fans on the road. Thompson was subjected to some taunts by an unruly fan in Milwaukee in January. … [Read more...] about Why is Klay Thompson being targeted by aggressive NBA fans?
By Susan Slusser Published 10:34 pm, Tuesday, April 10, 2018 LOS ANGELES — Trayce Thompson made his A’s debut Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium, and he might be in the starting lineup Wednesday against his former roommate, Alex Wood. “Woody and I lived together in 2016 and we were hurt together in 2016, we’ve spent a ton of time together,” said Thompson, who spent two years in Los Angeles. “If that happens, that’s going to be interesting to me.” Who’s a better roommate, Wood or Thompson’s brother, Warriors guard Klay Thompson? “Alex Wood every day of the week,” Thompson said. “Klay is one of the messiest people I’ve ever met in my life. And Alex cooks, too.” Thompson might be able to give the A’s pitching staff pointers on the Dodgers’ hitters; he knows their tendencies after many conversations about hitting. And he knows the Los Angeles pitchers from playing center behind them. … [Read more...] about Klay’s brother Trayce Thompson makes A’s debut
By Susan Slusser Published 6:12 pm, Friday, April 6, 2018 ANAHEIM - Trayce Thompson’s arrival in green and gold will wait one more day, with the outfielder scheduled to join the team Saturday at Angel Stadium. The delay is likely in order to give the A’s the leeway to send out starter Daniel Gossett - Friday night’s starter against the Angels. Gossett is in the rotation because of injuries to Jharel Cotton and Paul Blackburn; it’s likely that Trevor Cahill will take that turn in the rotation the next time the A’s need a fifth starter, which is April 17. Thompson, the brother of Warriors guard Klay Thompson, is not likely to start in the series at Anaheim because the team will not face any left-handers. His stay with the A’s might be short, given that the A’s return to five starters April 17. Thompson is out of options, so would have to clear waivers in order to stay with the organization. Oakland claimed Thompson on Thursday after the … [Read more...] about Trayce Thompson, Klay’s brother, to join A’s on Saturday
By Connor Letourneau Updated 3:54 pm, Thursday, April 5, 2018 INDIANAPOLIS — Warriors guard Klay Thompson is poised to have a new housemate: his younger brother, Trayce, who was signed off waivers Thursday by the Oakland A’s. "He texted me, actually, and asked if I had room for a roommate," Klay, who is a year older than Trayce, said before Thursday night’s game against the Pacers. "Luckily, I do." Trayce joins the A’s hoping to resuscitate a once-promising career. Three years after batting .295 as a rookie with the Chicago White Sox, he is struggling to stick in the majors. Trayce hit .212 with nine homers and 33 RBIs in 95 games with the Triple-A Oklahoma City Dodgers last season. In 27 games with the Los Angeles Dodgers, he batted .122 with a homer and two RBIs. Two days after claiming Trayce off waivers, the Yankees let him go Thursday. Oakland signed him for outfield depth, but he could be headed for the minors when the club needs to bring up a … [Read more...] about Klay Thompson to live with brother, A’s OF Trayce Thompson
By Susan Slusser Updated 11:46 am, Thursday, April 5, 2018 Like big brother Klay, Trayce Thompson will be playing for a Bay Area team after the A’s claimed the outfielder Thursday. Thompson, 27, will join Oakland in Anaheim on Friday, according to manager Bob Melvin, who is a major Warriors fan and friendly with Golden State star Klay. “I think it’s pretty cool,” Melvin said. “I talked to (Trayce) a little bit and he’s really excited. He’s actually in L.A. right now at his parents’ house, so it’ll work out well. ... I think everyone is pretty excited about that, not just us on the team, but the fan base might like that one as well.” Thompson’s time with Oakland might be relatively short, however. The A’s can drop down to a four-man rotation next week because of offdays Monday and Thursday, but they’ll need a fifth starter - likely Trevor Cahill - on April 17. Adding a bench player for the upcoming … [Read more...] about A’s claim Trayce Thompson, Klay’s brother, for a potentially short stint
