Actors Ruth Wilson and Clarke Peters took the dais at CCXP to talk about HBO fantasy drama His Dark Materials, based on the best-selling novels by Philip Pullman. The two went into detail about their characters and how it has been like working on such an ambitious story about Dafne Keen’s Lyra, who, after searching for her kidnapped friend, uncovers a sinister plot involving stolen children and becomes a quest to understand a mysterious phenomenon called Dust. Keen wasn’t able to attend the panel and sent a message of thanks via a video before the actors talked about the show, which tackles intense and heavy topics and themes is just as relevant to children as it is to adults. “We shouldn’t underestimate children,” said Peters. He references a quote that says “Out of the mouths of babes comes truth.” Related Story 'The Witcher' Star Henry Cavill And Show Creator Lauren Schmidt Hissrich Make Surprise Appearance At CCXP To … [Read more...] about ‘His Dark Materials’ Cast Compares Lyra To Greta Thunberg: “We Shouldn’t Underestimate Children” – CCXP
Kevin will probably save the world cast
Perhaps not as well known as some of the superheroes that make up Marvel's Avengers, Doctor Strange lives in his own little section of the cosmic universe surrounded by plenty of colorful characters. And it sounds like Marvel will be dipping deep into his bag of tricks for this particular Phase 3 adventure. It's not going to be a conventional Marvel movie, that's for sure. But as Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed earlier this year, it will still be an origin story. Now, Latino Review has new insight into how this original will play out on screen, revealing that it will center around a villain we weren't expecting. At all. Though Disney and Marvel have yet to officially confirm it, Doctor Strange began shooting this past week. And with that, we've seen a ton of set photos and video that show a haggard Benedict Cumberbatch before he becomes the Scorcerer supreme. Production is currently happening in Nepal, where Dr. Stephen Strange has been seen wandering the streets. At this time, any … [Read more...] about Is Doctor Strange Fighting This Unexpected Villain?
But I reckon I got to light out for the Territory ahead of the rest, because Aunt Sally she’s going to adopt me and sivilise me and I can’t stand it. I been there before. – Mark Twain, Huckleberry Finn The Dead didn’t get it going Wednesday night at Winterland, and that was too bad. The gig was a bail fund benefit for the People’s Park in Berkeley, and the giant ice-skating cavern was packed with heads. The whole park hassle – the benefit was for the 450 busted a few days before – had been a Berkeley political trip all the way down, but the issue was a good-timey park, so the crowd, though older and more radical than most San Francisco rock crowds, was a fine one in a good dancing mood, watery mouths waiting for the groove to come. The Airplane were on the bill too, so were Santana, the Act of Cups, Aum, and a righteous range of others; a San Francisco all-star … [Read more...] about Good Old Grateful Dead
Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio have done the impossible and improved The Room in a new DeepFake video. The duo recently starred in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which came out over the summer. However, placing them in a Tommy Wiseau project is far from a Tarantino script, though just their faces end up turning in a better acting performance than the original. It's often hard to look at, but it is also very intriguing all at the same time, once the weirdness becomes normal. Tommy Wiseau and his cult movie The Room are known for being so bad that it's good and is often referred to as "the Citizen Kane of bad movies." The performances are often unintentionally hilarious and the story doesn't really make a whole lot of sense at times, which is abundantly clear in this DeepFake video. It's really well done, but Brad Pitt's face on Wiseau's looks even weirder than normal DeepFake videos that have come out over the years. It's also really bizarre to hear Wiseau's voice … [Read more...] about Brad Pitt Replaces Tommy Wiseau in The Room DeepFake Video
Everything you need to know about Jennifer Lopez hosting Saturday Night Live can be found in the monologue. It’s not included below, but that’s because it’s a statement of purpose rather than a comedic statement. There are maybe two jokes tops in the monologue, which eschews comedy in favor of “I’m awesome, you know I’m awesome, so let’s spend five minutes celebrating this awesome.” An exercise in ego stroking? Maybe! But it’s Jennifer Lopez, and if anyone’s earned the right to use the monologue segment to take a victory lap for her 2019, it’s her. This monologue sets the tone for the episode because it never pretends that Lopez isn’t one of the biggest stars in the world. Many hosts excel because they can blend in with the cast. Lopez is one of a handful of people that can successfully exist as the focal point for every single sketch and not feel like she’s trying to take the spotlight. Rather, SNL … [Read more...] about Jennifer Lopez on ‘SNL’: 3 Sketches You Have to See
