Tubi continues to expand its adult animated programming, giving a green light to Breaking Bear , an adult animated comedy series from The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia director Julien Nitzberg, Creepshow producer Cartel Entertainment, and Blink-182 frontman Tom DeLonge’s To The Stars Media ( Monsters of California). Created by Nitzberg, Breaking Bear parodies the tropes of mobster dramas, comically combining elements of Yogi Bear with The Sopranos. It follows the escapades of three bear siblings who decide they have to start selling drugs in order to raise money and save their home after gas companies start fracking next to their cave. The bears soon enlist other forest animals in a scheme that will pit them against oil companies, The Russian Mafia, local Hell’s Angels and polar bears who hate anything that isn’t white. “When The Cartel pitched a series with cartoon animals as mobsters, I knew it was an offer I couldn’t refuse,” said Adam … [Read more...] about Tubi Orders Adult Animated Comedy Series ‘Breaking Bear’ From Julien Nitzberg & ‘Creepshow’ Producers & Tom DeLonge

‘Yellowjackets’ Christina Ricci On Why She Roots For The Underdog — Even If It Bites Her
At 15, Christina Ricci appeared in a PG-13 comedy called Now and Then , in which four middle-aged best friends meet up to reflect on their teenage selves. Nearly 30 years later, Showtime ’s Yellowjackets is that film’s hard-R evil twin, in which the fortysomething members of a New Jersey school’s female football team are haunted by memories of a traumatic plane crash that left them stranded when they were kids. It’s hard to pick a single performance from a terrific ensemble, but Ricci’s portrayal of the twisted Misty Quigley, played in flashback by Sammi Hanratty , is a standout in a series that shocks and surprises. DEADLINE: Why did you want to want to do Yellowjackets ? CHRISTINA RICCI : I loved the idea of it — the premise in general. But then I read the pilot script and the only scene I had in the whole episode was such an incredibly well written, succinct, informative, evocative scene. It was about a character type I’ve always been fascinated by — … [Read more...] about ‘Yellowjackets’ Christina Ricci On Why She Roots For The Underdog — Even If It Bites Her

Warner Bros Hot For ‘Arthur & Lancelot’
When Deadline broke news last month that Warner Bros has paid $2 million to acquire the David Dobkin spec script Arthur & Lancelot in a bidding war that involved Universal and Fox, insiders said the project would be fast-tracked. That was an understatement. The studio has dated the movie for a March 15, 2013 release. It’s a $90 million budget contemporary re-imagining of the classic tale that Dobkin will direct and produce, with Lionel Wigram with Jeff Kleeman exec producing. Dobkin’s about to open the Universal comedy The Change-Up with Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds . The deal essentially squashed several other sword and the stone pics that Warner Bros was developing. That included Bryan Singer ’s remake of the 1981 John Boorman pic Excalibur , and the version that Sherlock Holmes director Guy Ritchie had with Trainspotting scribe John Hodge . … [Read more...] about Warner Bros Hot For ‘Arthur & Lancelot’
