The MMA fighter who was struck by a car and lost his leg in a hit and run accident may have been wearing headphones that drowned out the sound of the car approaching ... officials say. The story is absolutely heartbreaking ... 25-year-old Jordan Parsons was crossing a street in Florida early Sunday morning when he was struck by a Range Rover Sport and left with "extreme injuries." Officials say the RR hit Parsons and fled from the scene -- leaving him with a severe leg wound. Emergency responders raced to the scene and applied pressure to the leg in hopes to save it -- but the wound proved too severe and it was amputated at a nearby hospital. Officials say it's unclear who had the right of way -- Parsons or the Range Rover. WGA East Sets Walkout At Hearst Magazines For Thursday; Hundreds Sign Petition
Hundreds of WGA East members who work for Hearst Magazines Media are planning to stage a walkout Thursday to demand a fair contract. The half-day action is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. ET and will last the remainder of the day. “ WGA East members at Hearst have been bargaining a first contract for over two years and their last scheduled day of negotiations is March 28,” the guild said. “With only one bargaining session left, the Hearst Union is taking collective action with a unit-wide walkout in their fight for a fair first contract.” Rallies in support of the walkout will be held at four locations: outside the Hearst Tower in Manhattan; at the Hearst offices in Easton, PA; at the Hearst offices in Ann Arbor, MI; and the Hearst offices in Birmingham, AL. BAFTA TV Awards Nominations: ‘This Is Going To Hurt’ & ‘The Responder’ Lead Chase For Prizes
BAFTA has pulled the curtain back on its Television Awards nominations, and This Is Going To Hurt and The Responder are leading the chase for a famous bronze mask. The BBC dramas each have six nominations across the BAFTA Television Awards and BAFTA Television Craft Awards, including Leading Actor for Ben Whishaw and Martin Freeman. Whishaw plays junior doctor Adam Kay in This Is Going To Hurt , which was co-produced by AMC. Freeman features as an urgent response police officer in The Responder . This Is Going To Hurt is nominated for Mini Series, while The Responder will compete in the Drama Series race. Adam Kay and Tony Schumacher will both do battle in the Writer: Drama category at the BAFTA Television Craft Awards. ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Renewed For Season 20 By ABC – Will Ellen Pompeo Return?
Grey’s Anatomy continues to write TV history with a renewal for a landmark 20th season, extending its record as the longest-running primetime medical drama. Along with the pickup, which was fully expected , ABC also confirmed Deadline’s report that Meg Marinis will serve as showrunner for Season 20. She replaces longtime Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 showrunner Krista Vernoff, who is leaving both series at the end of this season. For the past several years, ABC had renewed Grey’s Anatomy and spinoff Station 19 in tandem. I hear deals for Station 19 are still being worked out and that the first-responder drama likely is coming back. After the big sendoff episode for Ellen Pompeo ’s Meredith Grey in the midseason premiere , she will be returning for the Season 19 finale of Grey’s Anatomy on May 18.
