The WWE is helping Ultimate Warrior 's wife cope with her husband's sudden death ... flying two senior WWE officials to Arizona to stand by and help her. We're told the WWE sent the employees almost immediately after Warrior died ... their main task is helping his wife Dana handle little things -- grocery shopping, letting other family members know what's going on -- so she can focus on being with their daughters. It's sounds bizarre ... top officials leaving their jobs to handle mundane chores, but that's how important Warrior was to the WWE. As we previously reported, Warrior died outside an Arizona hotel Tuesday ... after suffering what officials called a " catastrophic medical event ." During his recent WWE Hall of Fame induction, Warrior had high praise for his wife. … [Read more...] about Ultimate Warrior — Wrestler’s Widow Receiving Special WWE Help

From a Gun-Free Bubble, NRA Demands ‘More Guns’ To Limit Mass Shootings
HOUSTON—The biggest names of the National Rifle Association’s annual gun show wouldn’t take the stage until mid-afternoon on Friday. B ut a young man with a vintage Make America Great hat, and a couple wearing matching “ULTRA MAGA” shirts, began camping out in the third-floor hallway of the convention center not long after 9 a.m. to guarantee themselves of prime seats for the star attraction: former president Donald Trump . The timing of this conference, the NRA ’s guns-palooza, is beyond perverse, coming just days after 19 students and 2 teachers were massacred by an 18-year-old wielding an AR-15 in Uvalde . By noon on Friday, a protest was in full-tilt across the street from the convention hall. D emonstrators for gun control held signs aloft with slogans like “NRA OWNS GOP.” One listed the names of the children killed in their classroom on Tuesday, etched in black and blood red. “¡Asesinos!” yelled a man repeatedly into a megaphone, using the Spanish word for “killers.” … [Read more...] about From a Gun-Free Bubble, NRA Demands ‘More Guns’ To Limit Mass Shootings
Exclusive Book Excerpt: ‘Love Goes To Buildings On Fire: Five Years in New York that Changed Music Forever’
‘Love Goes To Buildings On Fire: Five Years in New York that Changed Music Forever,’ by Rolling Stone contributor Will Hermes and available today, chronicles the period between 1973-1978 during which punk, hip-hop, salsa and other revolutionary forms of popular music were born or reinvented. In this exclusive excerpt, Hermes tells the stories of three era-defining musical beginnings: the collaboration of punk pioneers Tom Verlaine and Richard Hell, the early days of the New York Dolls and the legacy of jazz legend Sonny Rollins. Tom Miller was tripping his balls off on LSD in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware. The next thing he knew, a week later, he was in New York City, crashing in a crappy East Village apartment with his old friend Richard Meyers. They were both 19 years old. They’d met at Sanford, a boarding school for ne’er-do-wells and other types near Wilmington. Meyers was raised in Lexington, Kentucky, a town shadowed by the Lexington Narcotics Farm rehab facility, … [Read more...] about Exclusive Book Excerpt: ‘Love Goes To Buildings On Fire: Five Years in New York that Changed Music Forever’
He Lost His Son to a School Shooting. Here’s Why He’s Willing to Relive His Agony
When Mark Barden received the first “thinking of you” text on Tuesday afternoon, he assumed the well-wisher had the anniversary of some other horrific school shooting on their mind. Late May is ripe with them: This week marks the four-year anniversary of a shooting spree at a high school Santa Fe, Texas, that left 10 dead, and eight years since a University of California, Santa Barbara student murdered two fellow students outside a sorority house in Isla Vista, California. “They do just seem to stack up,” Barden sighed. Barden would soon find out, of course, about a new tragedy unfolding at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas. The massacre, which left 19 students and two teachers dead, would be immediately dubbed “another Sandy Hook ” — the very thing Barden had devoted his life to preventing ever since the 2012 shooting claimed his seven-year-old son Daniel and 19 other first graders. On Tuesday night, Barden and his wife, Jackie, got in their car and drove around. “We just … [Read more...] about He Lost His Son to a School Shooting. Here’s Why He’s Willing to Relive His Agony
Cannes Review: Chie Hayakawa’s ‘Plan 75’
A diet of rice and tofu, plenty of regular, gentle exercise and excellent hospitals: the Japanese have nailed the formula for getting old prolifically. With a little less than 30% of the population over 65, Japanese society is now officially termed as “super-aged.” Meanwhile, thanks to a low birth rate and an ingrained opposition to immigration, the total number of people is falling dramatically. Each year, there are fewer younger people to look after more older ones. It’s a slow-burn economic crisis. Of course, there is an obvious solution, unthinkable in real life but very much in working order in Chie Hayakawa ’s Plan 75 , which screened in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard . The plan of the title is a hypothetical government-funded program that merely offers seniors the chance to be bumped off quietly. It is never acknowledged to be a mass extermination program. On the contrary, it is entirely benevolent. There are little nudges along the way, it’s true. Those who … [Read more...] about Cannes Review: Chie Hayakawa’s ‘Plan 75’
Pooja Bhatt Takes A Dig At Sameer Wankhede After Aryan Khan Gets A Clean Chit In Drugs Case
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan was given a clean chit by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in the drugs-on-cruise case on Friday (May 27). Reportedly, the investigating agency didn't find any evidence against the star kid. After this news came out, actress Pooja Bhatt took to her Twitter handle to take a sly dig at Sameer Wankhede, the ex-zonal officer who had led the NCB team. She wrote, "Sameer who? Er sorry, where? Ah! Probably very busy being a righteous, publicity shy officer elsewhere? So much of a mess to clean up after all. And who better than the least corrupt of them all to cure society of all evil & rot. Except this time, no selfies allowed. #truthprevails." Besides her, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma also reacted to this development and tweeted, "The only good thing which came about in #AryanKhan case is him being a celebrity @iamsrk's son. It helped in vastly exposing the inefficiency and recklessness of various agencies … [Read more...] about Pooja Bhatt Takes A Dig At Sameer Wankhede After Aryan Khan Gets A Clean Chit In Drugs Case
Friday Ratings: ‘WWE Friday Night SmackDown’ Makes Biggest Noise Of Quiet Night
A quiet pre-holiday Friday night saw plenty of action from the WWE Friday Night SmackDown , which topped the demos once again, this time with an 0.4, easily beating the competition. The perennial Friday night winner featured a six-person tag-team main event that saw Drew McIntyre emerge as the surprise tag partner to help The New Day overcome The Brawling Brutes. At NBC , the season finale of The Blacklist saw two series regulars depart, but the needle hardly moved, as the show scored its usual 0.2. That was followed by a Dateline rerun. ABC chimed in with an ABC News special.
