Paramount Pictures is celebrating John Hughes in a big way this month. Available this week, the studio is releasing the John Hughes 5-Movie Collection on Blu-Ray. It contains some of Hughes' biggest comedies of all time. Included in the set are Ferris Bueller's Day Off , Pretty in Pink , She's Having a Baby , Planes, Trains and Automobiles and Some King of Wonderful . We caught up with the director behind two of these all-time classics, speaking with Howard Deutch about his time working alongside John Hughes and what it means to be a part of this legacy. Only three of the films included in this new set were actually directed by the coming-of-age maestro, with the other two only being written by John Hughes . EXCLUSIVE: Two-time Tony nominated director Alex Timbers is closed to direct a feature musical adaptation of the Harper Collins Michael Morpurgo book Toto: The Dog-Gone Amazing Story of the Wizard of Oz for Warner Bros.. John August penned the script which is loosely based on the book, which tells the story of The Wizard of Oz from the point of view of Dorothy’s loyal companion, and as we all know, they’re not in Kansas anymore. Jared Stern is serving as executive producer, and Derek Frey, who previously ran Tim Burton Productions and was Burton’s producer, will produce. Timbers is in Tony contention this year for directing the Moulin Rouge! musical and when the shutdown occurred had Beetlejuice on Broadway as well. SXSW Film Festival Unveils Full Lineup; Charli XCX Quarantine Feature To Close Fest; Tom Petty Docu Set As Centerpiece
South by Southwest Conference and Festivals have revealed the full program for the 28th edition of the SXSW Film Festival — and it will all take place online March 16-20. As previously reported , the documentary Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil is set to open the fest while the Charli XCX quarantine docu Alone Together will serve as the film fest closer. Keeping in line with the films about musicians, Mary Wharton’s Tom Petty, Somewhere You Feel Free will make its World Premiere as a centerpiece film. “It’s been a year unlike any we’ve experienced, first marked by the cancellation of SXSW 2020,” said Janet Pierson, Director of Film. “We feel privileged to have been able to pivot to SXSW Online and present a fantastic treasure trove of programming, including a pared down and wonderful selection of films that we know will delight, entertain and move our attendees. Sylvester Stallone Reveals First Rocky Spin-off Photo
Sylvester Stallone took to his Instagram page earlier today to reveal the first official photo from his Rocky spinoff Creed , which is slated for release on November 25. Hopefully the debut of this photo means the first trailer is just around the corner, but we don't have a confirmed date for the trailer's release. The photo shows Sylvester Stallone reprising his iconic role as Rocky Balboa, as he trains Michael B. Jordan 's Adonis Johnson, the son of Carl Weathers ' Apollo Creed. Adonis Johnson (Jordan) never knew his famous father, world heavyweight champion Apollo Creed, who died before he was born. Still, there's no denying that boxing is in his blood, so Adonis heads to Philadelphia, the site of Apollo Creed's legendary match with a tough upstart named Rocky Balboa.
