Michael Cohen claimed in his testimony Wednesday that President Donald Trump knew about the release of hacked DNC emails ahead of time thanks to Roger Stone. “Mr. Trump put Mr. Stone on the speakerphone and Mr. Stone told Mr. Trump that he had just gotten off the phone with Julian Assange,” Cohen said, “and that Mr. Assange told Mr. Stone that within a couple of days there would be a massive dump of emails that would damage Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Mr. Trump responded by stating to the effect, wouldn’t that be great?” CNN ran the clip this afternoon and Nia-Malika Henderson said that there’s really no way to corroborate this because it’s not clear if anyone would even been in the room. Stone, for his part, is denying it. Henderson also noted, “It’s not even clear if Roger Stone in this instance would have been telling the truth because we know how Roger Stone is.” John King made the point a little more explicitly: … [Read more...] about CNN’s John King: Roger Stone Is a ‘Known Bullsh*tter’
With CNN on election night coverage a week later for the uncalled races, John King said it very much looks like a “blue wave.” King brought up how close some big House races are and how Democrats are doing well and even pulling ahead in races where the votes are still being counted. For example, he noted CA-48 is “making Democrats incredibly happy,” because incumbent Republican Dana Rohrabacher is trailing Democratic challenger Harley Rouda. Rouda claimed victory days ago, though King noted CNN hasn’t called the race yet. And taking in the entire scope of the midterms, King said, “The Senate map not as good for Republicans as they thought. The Democrats picking up governorships. Democrats will take back the House. The only question now is the margin. A lot of people out there who say, ‘Is this a blue wave?’ This is a blue wave.” Watch above, via CNN. [image via screengrab] Have a tip we should know? On Wednesday, following the discovery of several explosive devices including one delivered to CNN, the president of that network Jeff Zucker released a statement blasting President Donald Trump for failing to understand “the seriousness of their continued attacks on the media.” On CNN today, host John King discussed with his panel of guests the idea that some in the media are blaming Trump for the threat, something the President and his surrogates have claimed several times today. “No one’s blaming the President,” said King to start to the segment. “Is anyone blaming the President? But the President now wants to make this about him.” Chyron at bottom of screen when CNN’s John King said no one is blaming President Trump. “Amen to the President for what he first said yesterday,” said King, referring to Trump’s remarks about toning down rhetoric. “But then, it’s our fault. Why?” King turned first to CNN … [Read more...] about CNN’s John King: ‘No One is Blaming Trump’ For Attacks, CNN Chyron: Trump Fails to Take Responsibility For Attacks
CNN’s John King gave a message directly to the his audience on Tuesday, saying President Donald Trump is counting on them being “stupid” enough to fall for his numerous falsehoods. Tuesday afternoon on Inside Politics, King brought up an MSNBC interview with Anthony Scaramucci this morning to promote his new book. During this interview, the former White House communications director seemed to trivialize Trump’s penchant for lying — saying the president won’t be toppled no matter how many times critics and the media call him out for falsehoods. “When you guys are upset about it and listing all the lies and trying to explain you can’t get a tax cut done in 10 days, people are almost happy about the fact that he is a wrecking ball inside of Washington and smashing into this,” Scaramucci said. “If you want to beat the president, exposing his lies or explaining them to people is not going to beat the president.” King was not … [Read more...] about CNN’s John King on Trump’s Frequent Lies: ‘The President Thinks You’re Stupid’
Jared Kushner argued today that President Donald Trump cares very much about the issue of prison reform, a subject he discussed at length with CNN’s Van Jones. Kushner said today, “I talk to the President all the time, and I know sometimes when I tell him something and he’s listening but he’s not really wanting to listen to me. I know when he’s listening to me and it penetrates.” And in that context, he said Trump very much cares about prison reform and it clearly resonates with him. CNN’s John King played that clip before turning to his panel and saying, “Again, help me. In the sense that you have a Republican president with a Republican Congress, a Republican president with an attorney general who does not agree with Jared Kushner on prison reform.” “If the President really cared,” King asked, “if he really cared, wouldn’t you do more than just invite Kim Kardashian into the White House for a photo op? … [Read more...] about John King: If Trump Really Cared About Prison Reform, Wouldn’t He Do More Than Invite Kim Kardashian to WH?
