Jared Kushner argued today that President Donald Trump cares very much about the issue of prison reform, a subject he discussed at length with CNN’s Van Jones. Kushner said today, “I talk to the President all the time, and I know sometimes when I tell him something and he’s listening but he’s not really wanting to listen to me. I know when he’s listening to me and it penetrates.” And in that context, he said Trump very much cares about prison reform and it clearly resonates with him. CNN’s John King played that clip before turning to his panel and saying, “Again, help me. In the sense that you have a Republican president with a Republican Congress, a Republican president with an attorney general who does not agree with Jared Kushner on prison reform.” “If the President really cared,” King asked, “if he really cared, wouldn’t you do more than just invite Kim Kardashian into the White House for a photo op? … [Read more...] about John King: If Trump Really Cared About Prison Reform, Wouldn’t He Do More Than Invite Kim Kardashian to WH?
Speaking during a break in the Thursday proceedings, CNN’s John King said Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh went “full Trump” during his heated, Democrat attacking testimony in front of Congress. The comment came during a conversation about whether or not the handful of Republicans thought to be most on the fence may be swayed by Kavanaugh’s fiery testimony or if his Trumpian tactics would actually turn them off. “And what makes the moment so fascinating is that the four Republicans we’re watching most closely, on the committee — Jeff Flake and Ben Sasse — then Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins,” King said, are inclined to vote for Kavanaugh because they think he’s part of the “pre-Trump Republican Party” and one of them. He continued on: “Does their calculation change at all? Are they swayed by a Donald Trump nominee who became a Trump fighter today attacking the Democrats, the … [Read more...] about CNN’s John King: ‘Brett Kavanaugh Went Full Trump Today’
One of the most-watched election races tonight is the Ohio 12th district special election between Republican Troy Balderson and Danny O’Connor, and a lot of people have been watching closely as it’s too close to call. As CNN’s John King was updating viewers on Cuomo Prime Time, O’Connor was leading Balderson by 155 votes. By the time the segment ended Balderson was back in the lead by 1031 votes. King broke down the numbers tonight compared to elections in the past few cycles, and Chris Cuomon noted how the 12th is “GOP ruby red.” King concluded with this: “This district is ruby red Republican. The fact that it is so close is a big deal. If you look ahead to November––let me switch again for you––here’s what you’re looking at. We have 95 House races that we view as the most competitive going forward. 82 of them are held by Republicans. Republicans are on defense. If they’re worried about this district, … [Read more...] about CNN’s John King on Ohio Special Election: Big Deal That This ‘Ruby Red’ District Is Too Close to Call
CNN chief national correspondent John King nicknamed the meeting and subsequent presser between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin “the surrender summit,” as the American leader appeared to side with the Kremlin over his own intelligence services on the issue of election interference in 2016. “I’m shaking my head like everyone else you’ve spoken to in the last 30 minutes or so,” King said to CNN anchor Anderson Cooper. “I’ve been here for 30 years. I came to Washington in the final months of the Reagan administration and I have never seen an American president simply surrender to the leader of Russia.” “You should call this the surrender summit,” he added. King continued by outlining all the many issues he had with Trump’s mishandling of the presser with Putin: “He could have said we’re not going to resolve what happened in 2016: ‘President … [Read more...] about CNN’s John King Dubs Trump’s Meeting With Putin ‘The Surrender Summit’
CNN host John King says if President Donald Trump thinks he can separate himself from his longtime personal attorney Michael Cohen, then “maybe Donald Trump can fly.” Cohen’s Manhattan office, apartment, and hotel room were recently raided by the FBI after reports he paid $130,000 in hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels just days before the November 2016 presidential election. The federal law enforcement raid prompted speculation that Cohen could flip and tell the special counsel what he knows related to the Russia investigation. Now, Trump appears to be trying to separate himself from Cohen, perhaps even using the National Enquirer to further that narrative. CNN’s John King, though, said Tuesday on Inside Politics that the president separating himself from Michael Cohen, also known as “Trump’s fixer,” is about as likely as the president flying. “The president has basically tried to separate himself in all kinds of other ways … [Read more...] about CNN’s John King: If POTUS Thinks He Can Separate Himself from Cohen, ‘Maybe Donald Trump Can Fly’
