Austin Butler’s portrayal of the the King of Rock & Roll in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis is coming to theaters in just a month, and Warner Brothers just released its second official trailer . The trailer opens with a contextualization from a voiceover — “Our country itself is sick, and it’s lost its sense of direction – even its common decency” — about the reaction to Presley and his dance moves. Butler as Presley is then seen wiggling his pinky as the camera pans to Tom Hanks’ character Tom Parker, Elvis’ manager. “In that moment Elvis the man was sacrificed and Elvis the God was born.” The trailer then — backed by “ (If You’re Looking For) Trouble” — laces clips of Presley performing before a scene sees the King of Rock & Roll being taken away in a police car. Cannes Review: Vicky Krieps & Gaspard Ulliel In ‘More Than Ever’
Director Emily Atef ’s Cannes Un Certain Regard drama More Than Ever is a careful, fastidious, Tradition of Quality film about impending death that’s easy to admire but won’t exactly pack ‘em in. Vicky Krieps impresses yet again, here playing a woman in her early 30s suffering from a likely fatal condition who travels from France to the fjords of Norway to try to come to terms with her unfair lot in life. It’s an entirely respectable and honorable piece about facing your own demise far before your expected time, but still the kind of thing most people would rather not think about. In Europe in particular, the film will be remembered as the last feature to star the popular French actor Gaspard Ulliel , who died in a skiing accident on January 19. He had also played the young Hannibal Lecter in Hannibal Rising as well as the title character in the biopic Saint Laurent . Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette And Mark Ruffalo Join Robert Pattinson In Bong Joon Ho’s Next Film At Warner Bros
EXCLUSIVE: Bong Joon Ho’s follow-up film to his Oscar-winning Parasite is gaining quite the ensemble, as sources tell Deadline that Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo (whose deals are in final negotiations), along with Naomi Ackie , are joining Robert Pattinson in Bong’s next feature at Warner Bros . The untitled film is based on the novel Mickey7 by Edward Ashton. Bong will write, direct and produce for his production company Offscreen, alongside Kate Street Picture Company’s Dooho Choi and Plan B’s Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner, as part of the latter’s overall deal with Warner Bros. The film reteams Bong and Choi with Brad Pitt’s Plan B following their successful collaboration on the director’s 2017 film Okja . The book was published in February by St. Martin, a Macmillan imprint.
