Scottish comedian Jerry Sadowitz has hit back at his critics with a lengthy response after his Edinburgh Fringe show was cancelled by the famous Pleasance venue amid accusations of racism, homophobia and misogyny. The American-born stand-up, who’s known for his controversial and often shocking antics on stage, was said to have made a racist comment about Prime Minsterial hopeful Rishi Sunak and was also slammed for exposing his genitals during the Friday night routine at the Pleasance at Edinburgh International Conference Centre — the venue where the Edinburgh Television Festival will be held next week. The Pleasance cancelled the following night’s performance after receiving “numerous complaints” and released a statement saying his content “did not align” with its values. It has since released a longer follow up statement outlining its reasoning. Sadowitz has responded in a Twitter post saying the venue had made a “victim” by the Pleasance doubling down on its … [Read more...] about Comedian Jerry Sadowitz Hits Back At Venue And Critics After Edinburgh Fringe Show Cancellation: “My Act Is Being Cheapened”

QCode Moves Into Unscripted Podcasts With New Slate
EXCLUSIVE : QCode , the podcast company formed by former CAA agent Rob Herting, is moving into unscripted audio series. The company has previously focused on scripted stories such as Blackout with Rami Malek and Dirty Diana with Demi Moore but is now expanding its slate to include a slew of entertainment series. These include Tooth and Claw, Crime Scene Queens, Jillian on Love, The Afternoon Special and an untitled monster comedy improv show. Tooth and Claw features true stories of the most extreme wild animal attacks ever documented, told and explained by Wes Larson, a wildlife biologist and animal behavior expert. Larson is joined by his brother Jeff and friend Mike to discuss these encounters. Crime Scene Queens, hosted by forensic experts Laura and Shelly, dives into the science of true-crime obsession. The pair are looking to “curb the CSI effect” and explain what really goes down at the scene of a crime. It launches August 15. Jillian on Love, … [Read more...] about QCode Moves Into Unscripted Podcasts With New Slate

Will Guy Ritchie Pull Sword From Stone After All And Make King Arthur Movie At Warner Bros?
EXCLUSIVE : After numerous attempts by Warner Bros to make a new version of the King Arthur legend, I’m hearing that Guy Ritchie is again looking to make the movie. This one is a tentpole fantasy retelling of the Arthur legend, meant to span six films. It was created by Joby Harold , who wrote the script for the first film. Producing is Akiva Goldsman through Weed Road, Harold and Tory Tunnell through Safehouse Pictures, and Ritchie’s partner Lionel Wigram. Ritchie and Wigram previously developed a version of the King Arthur saga based on a script by Trainspotting scribe John Hodge, but it lost steam when it looked like the one by David Dobkin was going to happen. Warner Bros got closest to a production start with Dobkin’s Arthur & Lancelot , with Colin Farrell most recently at the center of talks to revive the project as Lancelot, and they chased Gary Oldman for the Merlin role. Warner Bros paid $2 million to acquire Dobkin’s script, but unplugged … [Read more...] about Will Guy Ritchie Pull Sword From Stone After All And Make King Arthur Movie At Warner Bros?
Warner Bros Reconsidering ‘Arthur & Lancelot,’ With Colin Farrell In Lead Role
BREAKING : Warner Bros, which late last year put the brakes on David Dobkin ’s Arthur & Lancelot , is once again in active talks to make the movie. I’m hearing that Colin Farrell is in the center of talks that aim to revive the project. The killer role in the movie is Lancelot, I’m told, and that’s the one that Farrell is eye-ing. I’ve also heard that Gary Oldman, who was offered the role of Merlin but didn’t take it, is likely to be re-approached. They haven’t figured out who’s pulling the sword from the stone and are looking for an Arthur. You might recall that the studio, which paid $2 million to acquire Dobkin’s script last summer, wouldn’t make the movie because its $130 million budget was $20 million more than Warner Bros was willing to spend. Under terms of the deal, Dobkin got to shop his project around to other studios but nothing happened. Where Farrell fits into the picture isn’t exactly clear. Warner Bros, which dated the film for a March 15, 2013 … [Read more...] about Warner Bros Reconsidering ‘Arthur & Lancelot,’ With Colin Farrell In Lead Role
Who Is Your Biggest Competitor?
Opinions expressed are solely those of the author and do not reflect the views of Rolling Stone editors or publishers. Business consultants enjoy asking the question, “Who is your biggest competitor?” This is a question that elicits a common response. The person being asked the question inevitably responds with a name of a company that is in the same business industry. The person that is your biggest competitor doesn’t always have a physical presence. There is something else that is likely competing against you in business that you do not realize. Many people think that their biggest competitor is the person or company that is selling the same product or service that they are. The real competition is not the other person or company — it is the person looking back at you in the mirror. The person in the mirror has it out for you. That person is filled with fear and doubts. The person in the mirror is the one who could stop you from being successful. Yes, that person in the … [Read more...] about Who Is Your Biggest Competitor?
RS Recommends: The Best Bookshelf Speakers Under $100 for Music, Movies, and Gaming
If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Rolling Stone may receive an affiliate commission. If you’re setting up a stereo system in a small room, or don’t want big, daunting audio equipment in a common space, your best bet is to get a set of bookshelf speakers. Because of their size, bookshelf speakers can be used in a variety of situations. You could put a pair on a desk and use them as computer speakers, mount them onto a wall (indoor or outdoor) to save room, or integrate them into a 5.1 surround sound system. Bookshelf speakers work well in all of those scenarios, and they’re small enough that you can move them around easily if you want to change their position. Many also feature multiple inputs, which allows you to use them with many devices (think turntable and TV) at the same time. You can spend thousands of dollars on bookshelf speakers but it’s possible to get great sound from a pair that costs under $100. If … [Read more...] about RS Recommends: The Best Bookshelf Speakers Under $100 for Music, Movies, and Gaming
Rudy Giuliani Told He’s a Target in Criminal Election Meddling Investigation
Rudy Giuliani is the target of a criminal election meddling investigation in Georgia, his lawyers were told on Monday, according to The New York Times . Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has since Feb. 2021 been investigating Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in the state. Giuliani was at the forefront of the former president’s efforts to overturn the results nationwide. Reversing the results in Georgia, which President Biden narrowly won, was a key part of this effort, and in Dec. 2020 Giuliani appeared before legislative panels in the state, pushing several unfounded conspiracy theories about the election having been rigged. One such conspiracy theory was that Shaye Moss, a Fulton County election worker, worked with her mother to give the state to Biden. Moss testified before the Jan. 6 committee in June about the harassment she’s received since Giuliani and others falsely tried to implicate her in a scheme to rig the election. “It has … [Read more...] about Rudy Giuliani Told He’s a Target in Criminal Election Meddling Investigation
Quavo and Takeoff Talk Working Together as a Duo Separately From Migos: We ‘Easily Bounce Off’ Each Other
Over the summer, Quavo and Takeoff began pursuing a partnership with each other separately from their Migos third member, Offset . Sitting down for their first official interview as a duo, the pair of rappers revealed that they’ve barely noticed a difference in their creative process without Offset. “The chemistry is the same, and the recording is the same,” Quavo told Elliott Wilson and Brian “B.Dot” Miller, hosts of Warner Music Group podcast Rap Radar. “We always normally record by ourselves because we’re so crazy on just dropping new shit on each other.” Quavo and Takeoff don’t mention Offset by name in the trailer previewing the podcast episode set for release on Aug. 18, instead expanding on their creative connection to one another. Even before forming Migos, the trio grew up together in Atlanta and started Migos as a family affair: Quavo is Takeoff’s uncle, and Offset is Quavo’s cousin. “The chemistry has been there since day one,” Takeoff added of working with … [Read more...] about Quavo and Takeoff Talk Working Together as a Duo Separately From Migos: We ‘Easily Bounce Off’ Each Other
