The White House responded for at least the second time in as many days today to tweets from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos in a war of words over, well — the parties also argued over what the argument was about. Bezos tweeted this morning that “the administration tried their best to add another $3.5 TRILLION to federal spending. Oscar-winner Ariana DeBose and Jennifer Jason Leigh have joined the cast of Chris Pine ’s directorial debut Poolman . They join the previously announced cast of Pine, Annette Bening and Danny DeVito. Stuart Ford’s AGC Studios is fully financing the project, which it launched at EFM earlier this year, and will continue to shop to buyers on the Croisette this week. Pine directs from a script he co-write with Ian Gotler, Bening and DeVito. Black Mirror is returning to Netflix for a sixth season, Deadline has confirmed. Charlie Brooker ’s dystopian show has been one of the streamer’s landmarks since being picked up from Channel 4 after series two, setting the bar for high quality and innovative thinking. The sixth season will likely follow the same pattern as the fifth, which reduced the number of episodes down to three but extended them to feature film length, a source confirmed. Season five was preceded by innovative playalong feature Bandersnatch and was comprised of three episodes: Striking Vipers with Anthony Mackie and Yahya Abdul-Matteen II, Smithereens with Sherlock star Andrew Scott and Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too, which starred Miley Cyrus as a popstar. Miley Cyrus will help ring in the New Year on NBC yet again as she returns to host the network’s 2023 celebration. Revealed on Monday during NBC’s Upfronts presentation, the singer-actress will take center stage in the second iteration of Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party . The Cyrus-led celebration previously comprised NBC’s holiday programming alongside Christmas in Rockefeller Center, The National Dog Show and Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. For the 2022 special, Cyrus hosted with Saturday Night Live ‘s Pete Davidson. The Miami set event, from SNL creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels, boasted performances by Noah Cyrus, Brandi Carlile, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Saweetie, Anitta, Jack Harlow, 24kGoldn, Kitty Ca$h and more. Fox has even more costumes and tunes in store with The Masked Singer set to return for its eighth season. On Monday the network revealed the official season 8 order for the long-running celebrity singing competition. The Masked Singer is among a number of reality series set to return in the 2022-2023 season including Crime Scene Kitchen, Next Level Chef and more. The renewal comes as little surprise considering The Masked Singer has been a steady performer for Fox. The series consistently marks the network’s top Wednesday primetime title. There has been talk that the eighth season of the show, which has filmed in LA, may move settings with Las Vegas touted as one possibility.
