Capping a challenging multi-year development process, Sinclair Broadcast Group ’s regional sports unit has set September 26 as the nationwide launch date for direct-to-consumer streaming service Bally Sports +. At $19.99 a month or $189.99 a year, Bally Sports+ will be among the priciest streaming options in the marketplace, but the company expects many diehard sports fans lacking pay-TV subscriptions to pony up to watch their local teams. The 19 Bally networks operated by Sinclair’s Diamond Sports Group subsidiary feature Major League Baseball, NBA and NHL games, along with a range of college and prep sports. Disney and Turner Renew NBA Carriage Deal With New Streaming Rights
UPDATE, 10:36 AM: And now ESPN has weighed in on the deal. On the new digital service, the Disney company says that it has agreed to a “framework” with the NBA “to negotiate the launch of a new over-the-top offering in which the league would receive equity interest.” No details yet. On the TV side, ESPN’s new agreement gives it 10 additional regular season games (bringing the total to 100) as well as 10 more “exclusive regular-season windows.” The channel promises to “substantially increase its NBA-focused programming” with an additional 750 hours spread across TV and the Internet. It renewed rights for the WNBA. ESPN INternational will offer “significantly more” NBA programming in Latin America, the Caribbean, Australia and New Zealand. The Native American Media Alliance announced today they have selected six fellows for the 5th Annual Native American Feature Film Writers Lab , a talent development program that boosts the careers of Native American writers. In partnership with Comcast NBCUniversal, A+E Networks, Cherokee Nation Film Office, and A+E Networks, the Native American Feature Film Writers Lab is an annual program for talented and aspiring screenwriters. ‘Feud’: Tom Hollander, Calista Flockhart & Diane Lane To Star In Season 2 Of Ryan Murphy’s FX Series
Tom Hollander , Calista Flockhart and Diane Lane have joined Feud : Capote’s Women , the second installment of FX ’s anthology series from Ryan Murphy and Plan B, we have learned. Reps for FX and 20th Television, which is behind the Feud franchise, declined comment. They join previously announced Naomi Watts and Chloë Sevigny. Hollander will star as Truman Capote, Flockhart as Lee Radziwill and Lane as Slim Keith. As previously announced, Watts stars as Babe Paley, wife of CBS head Bill Paley, and Sevigny portrays C.Z. Guest. An adaptation of Laurence Leamer’s bestselling book Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era , the miniseries is set in the 1970s, and ends with Truman Capote’s death in 1984.
