Alison Hammond has been confirmed as the new host of The Great British Bake Off . Hammond, who co-hosted the BAFTA Film Awards last month, will replace Matt Lucas on Channel 4 ’s baking competition. The show has a loyal following on Netflix in the U.S. The Daily Mirror first reported the news on Thursday and Hammond confirmed it on TikTok this morning. Hammond first graced British television screens as a contestant on Big Brother in 2002. She has gone on to become a much-loved presenter, hosting ITV’s This Morning , where she has become known for viral celebrity interviews. This included an encounter with Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling in 2017, in which she admitted to having never watched Blade Runner. CBS talent relations executive Ian Metrose is leaving at the end of March, the company has confirmed. “Ian decided to leave CBS at the end of his contract this month,” said a company statement. “We thank him for his 20 years leading network and studio events and wish him much success in his next role.” Metrose exits as a SVP, Talent Relations & Special Events, CBS Communications , reporting to Chris Ender, EVP Communications, CBS Corp. Agatha Christie is the latest bestselling novelist to get the rewriting treatment for 2023 readers, according to a British newspaper. The bestselling novelist in the world, Christie created enduring popular sleuths Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple , and the Daily Telegraph reports that new editions of both these series have had original passages amended or removed by publisher Harper Collins. The Telegraph states that digital versions of new editions of the books written between 1920 and 1976 (the year of Christie’s death) include text stripped of “descriptions, insults or references to ethnicity, particularly for characters Christie’s protagonists encounter outside the UK.” For example, in the book Death on the Nile – published in 1937 and recently remade for the big screen by Kenneth Branagh – references to “Nubian people” have been removed, as have several references to non-British characters’ physiques. Hundreds of WGA East members who work for Hearst Magazines Media are planning to stage a walkout Thursday to demand a fair contract. The half-day action is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. ET and will last the remainder of the day. “ WGA East members at Hearst have been bargaining a first contract for over two years and their last scheduled day of negotiations is March 28,” the guild said. “With only one bargaining session left, the Hearst Union is taking collective action with a unit-wide walkout in their fight for a fair first contract.” Rallies in support of the walkout will be held at four locations: outside the Hearst Tower in Manhattan; at the Hearst offices in Easton, PA; at the Hearst offices in Ann Arbor, MI; and the Hearst offices in Birmingham, AL.
