Hugh Jackman may be done playing Wolverine, but Logan managed to inspire another movie centered on a mutant with adamantium claws and a bit of an anger problem. It looks like Laura, aka X-23, is getting her own spin-off movie. While Fox hasn't nailed down a release date or a creative team, a script for a Laura spin-off is in development, as confirmed by Logan director James Mangold. Here's what he had to say about it. Sunday AM Final: We’ll have to wait and see what success WarnerMedia drums up in regards to Wonder Woman 1984‘s impact on HBO Max subscribers. But from a box office perspective over Christmas, with 60% of the 5,8K theater domestic market closed by COVID-19, the DC sequel posted a record result for the pandemic since theaters reopened in late August, with $16.7M at 2,151 locations. The first Wonder Woman opened to $103.2M over the first weekend in June. In the same breath of reporting this weekend’s figures for WW84, which now stands at $85M WW, Warners announced a threequel with Patty Jenkins writing and attached to direct, with Gal Gadot returning. No word on whether that will also be a simultaneous HBO Max and theatrical day and date release. Will Kong: Skull Island Demolish Logan at the Box Office?
20th Century Fox's Logan proved to be a lucrative swan song for Hugh Jackman 's title character, as the final Wolverine movie became a box office hit with a huge $88.4 million opening weekend , which is actually $3.1 million more than the $85.3. million estimate posted on Sunday. This weekend, it only has one new competitor, Warner Bros.' Kong: Skull Island , which is shaping up to give Logan a run for its money in what could be a very close brawl at the box office. We're predicting that Logan holds onto the crown for one more weekend, taking in $42.6 million, with Kong: Skull Island not too far behind. Box Office Mojo doesn't have any data regarding how many theaters Kong: Skull Island will open in, but it's already shaping up to be a critical hit. Face/Off Remake Lures in Godzilla Vs. Kong Director Adam Wingard
The Face/Off Reboot just took a major step forward. Paramount Pictures is pressing on with the project and they have tapped Adam Wingard ( Godzilla vs. Kong , Blair Witch ) to direct. The project initially came to light in September 2019 and has been coming together behind the scenes ever since. Now, Wingard has been put in charge of reimagining the 90s action classic for modern audiences. According to multiple reports, Adam Wingard is set to direct and co-write the screenplay for the Face/Off remake. Wingard will work with his frequent collaborator, Simon Barrett, on the script. It is said that the two will be starting from scratch. Oren Uziel ( The Cloverfield Paradox , 22 Jump Street ) had previously been attached. It seems whatever work he had done will not be utilized by the incoming filmmakers. Neal Moritz is set to produce with David Permut on board as an executive producer.
