‘Sunday Night Football’ Week 3 Rating Slip A Notch From Week 2, Up Double Digits From 2017
It wasn’t a blowout, but the Detroit Lions won comfortably 26-10 over the New England Patriots on NBC ’s Sunday Night Football . That translated into a 13.6 rating/23 share in the metered market households (excluding live streaming). That was off by a fraction from the 13.8/24 in the early numbers for the Dallas Cowboys’ victory last week over the New York Giants and the lowest overnight delivery so far this season. The three SNF games to date have drawn 14.4, 13.8 and 13.6 ratings. Still, last night’s game was up 18% from SNF ‘s Game 3 last season (Washington Redskins – Oakland Raiders), which hit a then-season-low 11.6/20 at the height of the players’ protests during the national anthem, and the highest-rated Week 3 game since 2015. It is the second consecutive game to post a double-digit gain vs. 2017. The NBC SNF overnight ratings for Patriots-Lions peaked at 14.3/24 in second quarter (9-9:30 PM ET). The Patriots’ home market Boston delivered the highest … [Read more...] about ‘Sunday Night Football’ Week 3 Rating Slip A Notch From Week 2, Up Double Digits From 2017
Maroon 5’s Terrible Super Bowl Halftime Show Lacks Lift-Off Or Soul – Review
Coming out of the first half of a very low scoring 3-0 Super Bowl match-up today between the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams, Adam Levine and Maroon 5 proved conclusively that they could pull off a halftime show that put Justin Timberlake to shame – at least when it came to ill-considered timing and strongly bleached blandness… and that’s a feat. Nobody’s first choice for the once-coveted spot and fighting the backlash from those calling for a boycott in a sign of solidarity with Colin Kaepernick, The Voice coach and crew made last year’s staid effort by the former N’Sync star almost positively cutting edge with their Super Bowl LIII rollout of tried and tired hits and poses. UPDATE: Seth Meyers Delivers Second-Highest Emmy Ratings In Eight Years — 15.6 Million Viewers
UPDATE, 10:10 AM: Despite airing on a Monday — and in August and right before the Labor Day weekend — the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards bagged an average of 15.6 million viewers, the second-biggest overall crowd for the franchise in eight years. It was behind only last year’s 17.8 million, which had benefited from a Sunday scheduling, a September airdate, and a high-rated NFL lead-in. On the other hand, that CBS Emmycast had to compete against a highly rated NBC Sunday Night Football game (Chicago/Pittsburgh) which averaged 20.5 million viewers and a 7.7 rating in the demo. Anyway, excluding last year, it’s the top Emmys in total viewers since the Sunday broadcast on August 27, 2006, also on NBC, which averaged 16.2 million viewers. In the demo, the Emmycast’s 4.2 rating equals the second-highest Emmy ratings in seven years. The overall crowd of 15.6 million makes this the most-watched night on any network since ABC’s Academy Awards on March 2. That said, that Oscarcast clocked … [Read more...] about UPDATE: Seth Meyers Delivers Second-Highest Emmy Ratings In Eight Years — 15.6 Million Viewers
‘Young Rock’ And ‘Kenan’ Debuts Strong For NBC; ‘This Is Us’ Tops Tuesday Ratings
NBC topped the broadcast ratings Monday in primetime with two series premieres and its drama kingpin This Is Us . The network’s night started with the Dwayne Johnson family comedy Young Rock, which debuted strong with a 0.9 in the adults 18-49 demographic and 5.03 million viewers tuning in to smell what The Rock was cooking. Saturday Night Live staple Kenan Thompson followed with the debut of his new comedy Kenan (0.8, 4.07M). The duo marked NBC’s best two comedy premieres in the demo since 2017 in Nielsen’s Live+Same Day fast affiliate numbers. The comedies also took the No. 1 and No. 2 spots when it came to scripted series debuts for the 2020-2021 season, with Young Rock the best comedy launch on all of broadcast in the 18-49 demo since January 2019.
