Jenna Bush Hager ’s Thousand Voices and Universal International Studios are developing Jessica George’s debut novel Maame into a TV series. The book was released today in the U.S. and was Today with Hoda & Jenna host Bush Hager’s February pick for her monthly #ReadWithJenna. The novel centers on Maddie, whose life in London involves being primary caretaker for her father, who has advanced stage Parkinson’s, and dealing with her nightmare boss. When her mum returns from her latest trip to Ghana, the self-acknowledged late bloomer leaps at the chance to get out of the family home and start living. George will co-adapt the TV version with Everthing I Know About Love scribe Yemi Oyefuwa. Gillis, who has been serving as Interim Artistic Director since William Carden retired in 2022 and is a long-time member of EST, will begin planning the 2023/2024 season with director/producer Fadul who will officially join the company in March. Over the past five decades, EST has developed thousands of new American plays and has grown into a company of over 600 actors, directors, playwrights, and designers. Johnny Knoxville has taken to social media to share his frustration over the cancellation of his critically acclaimed Hulu comedy series Reboot . “It’s with a heavy heart that I say despite getting great reviews and being nominated for a Critics Choice Award @hulu has failed to pick up Reboot even for a second season. Pretty unbelievable,” Knoxville wrote on Instagram Monday night, next to a cast photo. Thanking series creator Steve Levitan and cast “for allowing me to be part of this show,” which he says “has been one of the great highlights of my life,” Knoxville expressed some optimism. “It’s not over yet though, as we tend to shop it around and hopefully it will find a home with a studio who believes in and knows how to properly support a new show as it continues to grow,” Knoxville wrote.
