The squad reunited for a surprise performance when Taylor Swift popped in during Haim ’s show at O2 Arena on Thursday, July 21. The song collaborators and former tourmates —Haim opened for Swift during her 1989 World Tour in 2015 — wowed fans with a mashup of their collaborative track “Gasoline” with Swift’s “Love Story.” “I heard that my girls were playing in London at the O2 and I thought, ‘I’m gonna have to see that.’ And it looks like there’s about 20,000 other people that also thought that, too,” Swift said as the crowd cheered. “We had a thought, that if we were to do some sort of mashup, we could possibly maybe get you to sing the loudest that you have sung all night.” Judging from the fan footage, the crowd was more than up to the task. Israeli Heartthrob Mergui Drops First English-Language Single ‘Sucks to Know You’
Mergui has been a household name in Israel for a while now, but with his first-ever single in English, he’s ready for U.S. audiences to get to know him, too. On Friday, the curly-haired heartthrob released his single “Sucks to Know You,” a middle-fingers-up, guitar-driven anthem about healing from heartbreak. “Now I got about a thousand things/to say to you/But I’m down to four/It goes like,” he sets up the chorus before singing: “Fuck you/I hate you/I miss you/Sucks to know you.” The video sees him driving in an old car into a beautiful field of flowers in Croatia as he belts the breakup lyrics. The new track, Mergui tells Rolling Stone , “was written when I was coming out of a very difficult point in my life.” He seemingly refers to his public breakup from fellow musician Noa Kirel , who recently signed to Atlantic Records and is also launching a career in the U.S. “I felt so many different things: a tornado of anger and sadness mixed with excitement and relief,” he says. … [Read more...] about Israeli Heartthrob Mergui Drops First English-Language Single ‘Sucks to Know You’

Hear Calvin Harris’ Bruising Breakup Anthem ‘My Way’
Calvin Harris pours his emotions on the dance floor in the impassioned breakup anthem, “My Way.” “I made my move and it was all about you,” the Scottish DJ sings. “Now I feel so far removed.” The breezy, predictable melody rises and falls in waves driven forward by an unwavering kick drum. Only the string section draws out the song’s inherent melancholy. Harris’ big pop singles usually feature collaborations with singers like Rihanna, Haim, Ellie Goulding, or rappers like Big Sean. But “My Way” is a rare exception that finds Harris stepping beyond the booth for the first time in years. The last time he sang on one of his own tracks was for his 2014 hit “Summer,” and before that, “Feel So Close,” a single that originally came out in 2011. Both were hit songs on American radio. This year, Harris has focused on collaborations: “This Is What You Came For,” with Rihanna and co-written by Taylor Swift, “Hype,” which featured Dizzee Rascal and “Ole,” which reunited Harris with … [Read more...] about Hear Calvin Harris’ Bruising Breakup Anthem ‘My Way’
