During the lockdown, with films and TV production shut down and theatres closed, OTT content became the primary mode of entertainment for the country. With growing consumption and a growing number of platforms, viewership patterns have also changed in 2020. To celebrate the new and emerging creators and talented artists, Filmfare recently announced the Flyx Filmfare OTT Awards. The organisers have now announced the complete nominees' list with categories including Best Series, Best Original, Best Unscripted Original, Best Actor, Best Script and more. The Art Directors Guild has unveiled nominations for its 25th annual Excellence in Production Design Awards, which celebrate the year’s best achievements in theatrical motion pictures, TV, commercials, music videos and animated features. Winners will be announced April 10 during a virtual ceremony. Last year, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Avengers: Endgame and Parasite were the big film winners in the Period, Fantasy and Contemporary categories, respectively, with Hollywood going on to take the Production Design Oscar. TV winners included The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Cherrnobyl, The Big Bang Theory, Russian Doll, The Umbrella Academy and Drunk History . As previously announced, Ryan Murphy will receive the group’s Cinematic Imagery Award this year. The ADG Lifetime Achievement Awards, annually presented to outstanding individuals in each of the guild’s four crafts, will be announced shortly. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Thursday revealed the 366 feature films that are eligible for consideration at the 93rd Oscars , which are set to air April 25 live on ABC. The total number of films is up from last year’s 344 films in contention. This year’s list was compiled based on tweaked eligibility rules implemented because of the coronavirus pandemic, which has pushed the ceremony to its latest date ever. For this year, feature films had to open by February 28 in a commercial motion picture theater for a seven-day qualifying run in at least one of six metro areas: Los Angeles County, New York City, the Bay Area, Chicago, Miami and Atlanta. Drive-in theaters open nightly were included as qualifying venues, as were films intended for theatrical release but because of the lockdown made available first via streaming, VOD service or other broadcast. The Slamdance Film Festival unveiled winners for its 27th edition Thursday, with the compact drama Taipei Suicide Story directed by KEFF taking both the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award for narrative features and the best actor prize during a virtual awards ceremony. The drama is about a receptionist at a suicide hotel in Taipei who forms a friendship over the course of one night with a guest who can’t decide if she wants to live or die. The pic, which also was in the official Cinéfondation selection of the 2020 Cannes Film Festival, runs 45 minutes. Tender Huang, who plays the hotel receptionist, was named best actor during the ceremony wrapping this year’s edition, which ran as a virtual edition February 12-25. Workaholics will return with an all-new movie on Paramount+. On Thursday, several major announcements were made about the new streaming service's upcoming content which includes revivals and reboots of several fan favorite TV shows from years past. The news also brought along the reveal that the streamer will exclusively host a new Workaholics movie with returning cast members Blake Anderson, Adam Devine, Anders Holm, and Kyle Newacheck. Running on Comedy Central for seven seasons, Workaholics was on the air from 2011 to 2017. Its cast is also behind most of the writing and creative direction of the series. The show follows a group of college dropouts and roommates who all work together at a telemarketing company in California. They often clash with co-workers and each other as they've never quite grown out of partying, drinking, smoking pot, and pulling pranks.
