ITV has confirmed that hit entertainment show Love Island will be restored to its summer schedule after last year’s sun-soaked dating format was derailed by the coronavirus pandemic. ITV’s content chief Kevin Lygo said Love Island will be back after it has been off-air for around a year. The last season was a winter version, filmed in South Africa by ITV Studios for ITV2. His confirmation follows ITV CEO Carolyn McCall saying last month that this year’s season was in the balance as Covid-19 continues to rampage across Europe. “We will want to put Love Island on air because it’s been off air for a little while [after] we didn’t do it last summer. We’re looking at all our options at the moment because the pandemic makes that hard,” she told the BBC. The Daily Mirror reported this week that the island of Jersey has been identified as a back-up for the Love Island’s traditional home in Mallorca, should international travel be restricted when filming needs to … [Read more...] about ‘Love Island’ To Return To ITV This Summer

Actors’ Equity Slams New York City’s “Open Culture” Outdoor Performance Plan Over Wage And Safety Issues
Actors’ Equity is warning members that New York City’s just-launched “ Open Culture ” program of outdoor performances on city streets does not meet the union’s minimum standards for wages or its Covid-19 safety protocols. “If you are approached to work on a New York City ‘Open Culture’ project, please contact your business representative immediately before accepting,” writes Equity executive director Mary McColl in a letter being sent to members today. Equity indicated that it will “continue to push New York City” to make changes to Open Culture regarding pay and safety issues. The city’s Open Culture website indicates that arts organizations eligible for inclusion in the program include theaters, music venues, comedy clubs and others. Filming or recording of the events is permitted without a film permit. How Producers Of ‘Attenborough’s Life In Colour’ Overcame A Covid-Ravaged Shoot To Deliver Early For The BBC & Netflix
BBC and Netflix series Attenborough’s Life In Colour sets out to explore the wonder of nature and its kaleidoscope of colors, but for producers at Humble Bee Films , filming the natural history show was far from black and white. Executive producer Stephen Dunleavy tells Deadline that soon after production got underway on the project, which unites Netflix and the BBC for the first time on a wildlife show, the pandemic ravaged filming plans. A trip to Costa Rica with the great naturalist, David Attenborough, was in the can, but it was during a visit to the Cairngorms in Scotland early last year that Covid-19 began to rear its ugly head in the UK. Up to 10 shoots were wiped out by the pandemic, with producers having to abandon travel plans to Italy among other locations, while 95-year-old Attenborough safely ensconced himself at home in leafy south-west London.
