EXCLUSIVE: James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli has revealed that it will be “at least two years“ before the next 007 movie begins filming and that the task of finding an actor to replace Daniel Craig hasn’t begun “because it’s a reinvention of Bond.” Speaking to us at a star-studded private event in central London to honor Broccoli and her brother Michael G. Wilson for their BFI Fellowships, Broccoli wouldn’t be drawn on who would play Bond next but did offer an update on the decision-making process. “Nobody’s in the running,” she disclosed. “We’re working out where to go with him, we’re talking that through. There isn’t a script and we can’t come up with one until we decide how we’re going to approach the next film because, really, it’s a reinvention of Bond. We’re reinventing who he is and that takes time. I’d say that filming is at least two years away.” The private dinner was held at Claridge’s Hotel in central London and was hosted by British Film … [Read more...] about Barbara Broccoli Says Next James Bond Film Is Two Years Away From Production: “We’re Reinventing Him”

Verve Promotes Noah Liebmiller & Jessica Zou To Agents
EXCLUSIVE: Verve has upped coordinators Jessica Zou and Noah Liebmiller to Agents in the Motion Picture Literary Team. The agency, which has a tradition of surprising staffers with promotions, last week tasked Liebmiller and Zou with putting together a video as part of a signing exercise. I understand they were told that the video was not only important but needed to convey the theatrical gravitas of the signing pursuit. During a recent all-company staff meeting, the video was played to great reception and the promotions were announced by the co-heads of the Motion Picture Lit Team who reflected on how deserving both Liebmiller and Zou were of their new titles. Zou, who holds a Master’s in Communications from USC, began her career in the UTA mailroom before joining Verve in February 2020 where she worked for Motion Picture Lit Agents Pamela Goldstein and Sara Nestor. Liebmiller, a Middlebury College graduate and another homegrown agent, joined Verve’s mailroom in … [Read more...] about Verve Promotes Noah Liebmiller & Jessica Zou To Agents

Everything, All the Time: Is Life in the Fast Lane Better?
Opinions expressed are solely those of the author and do not reflect the views of Rolling Stone editors or publishers. When Joe Walsh, Glenn Frey and Don Henley of the Eagles wrote Life in the Fast Lane in the late 1970s, little did they know how fast that lane would become. In an Amazon world where we can order anything online and have it delivered within a few hours, our expectations have changed. We live in an “everything, all the time” world. Even the speed at which we watch and listen to online content has changed. Speed-watching has become a thing. For example, on YouTube to save time, you can increase the speed of a video to watch it faster. How do these increased expectations impact business? Investors may be inclined to look for a “hockey stick” pattern, in which there’s a short period of steady growth followed by a dramatic period of exponential growth. This can influence startups that are looking for funding to focus on things that may offer quick growth in the … [Read more...] about Everything, All the Time: Is Life in the Fast Lane Better?
Danger Mouse Preps New Record Label, Signs Autolux
Danger Mouse has announced his own Columbia Records imprint, 30th Century Records, which will feature artists personally signed by the songwriter-producer. Danger Mouse – best known for high-profile collaborations ( Gnarls Barkley , Broken Bells ) and production work (U2, the Black Keys, Beck) – will debut the label with his first signing, experimental rock trio Autolux , who are currently working on their follow-up to 2010’s Transit Transit . “In the dreamless world of the music industry, it’s rare to find a champion who wants to use the business to promote the art rather than the art to promote the business,” Autolux tells Rolling Stone . “When Brian heard our record, it was clear he understood what we are doing and where we want to go.” Danger Mouse is rumored to be producing two of the most two heavily anticipated new LPs from artists at opposite ends of the sonic spectrum: Red Hot Chili Peppers and Adele. In February, Chili Peppers bassist Flea tweeted – in a … [Read more...] about Danger Mouse Preps New Record Label, Signs Autolux
Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith Answers Your Twitter Questions
Although Red Hot Chili Peppers member Chad Smith and his doppelgänger Will Ferrell may have spent much of 2014 trying to prove how different they are from one another, with their hilarious competition on The Tonight Show , the drummer does have something in common with the actor: he’s very funny. As Rolling Stone read the drummer the questions fans sent in via Twitter, he cracked wise about everything from the Chili Peppers’ penchant for wearing socks on their private parts to how Ferrell “robbed” him of the Golden Cowbell during his drum-off with the actor this year. Over the past quarter century, Smith has played with the Chili Peppers, the supergroup Chickenfoot and various sessions with the likes of Kid Rock, the Dixie Chicks and Johnny Cash. And, with an eye toward helping other musicians, he has also spent time lobbying for music education in Washington, D.C. – including a recent trip to the White House – and building a drum community with his Chad Smith Drum … [Read more...] about Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith Answers Your Twitter Questions
Danger Mouse on the Sci-Fi and Deep Chats Behind Broken Bells’ New LP
Broken Bells, the collaborative project between Danger Mouse and the Shins’ James Mercer, return February 4th with the new album After the Disco, which augments the bands melodic psych-pop with jittery grooves and sleek synths – and it shows that the duo are serious about being more than just a one-off side project. “It’s a pretty sad record,” Danger Mouse tells Rolling Stone . “It’s pretty bleak in a way. We used the same couple of guitars, the same bass, the same drums, maybe two or three synthesizers at most for the whole album. I like the idea of two guys being able to make something that sounds really big.” We spoke with Danger Mouse about After the Disco , his friendship with Mercer, producing the new U2 album and more. Don’t miss our ultimate guide to 2014’s best music, movies, TV and more How did the After the Disco concept start? About a year ago, James and I worked for about a month on ideas, and that was the last idea we had. We were in the studio and … [Read more...] about Danger Mouse on the Sci-Fi and Deep Chats Behind Broken Bells’ New LP
Broken Bells’ James Mercer on Turning Dark Songs Into a Party Record
Last week, Danger Mouse told us that Broken Bells ’ new album After the Disco was “a pretty sad record.” The other half of the Bells’ equation, the Shins ’ James Mercer , says it’s not a total buzzkill. “There’s a lot of personal angst there,” Mercer says. “If you were to take the chords and play them on a piano they would sound pretty sad. But then you add the beat and the hooks and it becomes kind of a party record in a way.” Rolling Stone spoke to Mercer about what After the Disco means to him, how parenting influences his songwriting and what the new U2 album might sound like. See where Broken Bells’ ‘The Ghost Inside’ ranks on our 50 Best Songs of 2010 When the Shins were touring for Port of Morrow, w ere you already thinking of the new Broken Bells record? There’s not a lot of thinking that I need to do away from the studio on Broken Bells stuff. Brian [Burton a.k.a. Danger Mouse] and I come up with most of it there, together, which is kind of cool … [Read more...] about Broken Bells’ James Mercer on Turning Dark Songs Into a Party Record
