EXCLUSIVE: Jon M. Chu is set to direct The Great Chinese Art Heist for Warner Bros . based on the GQ article by Alex W. Palmer . The studio is currently out to a writer who will adapt for the big screen. Producers are Chu and Lance Johnson’s Electric Somewhere and Geneva Waserman of Conde Nast Entertainment. The article follows a slew of museum art robberies that occurred in Europe, in which Chinese antiquities were stolen, chiefly those that came from the country’s old Summer Palace which was raided in 1860 by French soldiers. No one knows who the thieves are, but the works of art continually wind up back in China. The Highwaymen: The Fights and Friendship of Country’s Great Supergroup
When the Highwaymen recorded “Desperados Waiting for a Train,” written by visionary songwriter Guy Clark, who died earlier this week, the supergroup of Johnny Cash , Willie Nelson , Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristofferson landed on their most poignant song. While Jimmy Webb’s “Highwayman” may have been the foursome’s signature, Clark’s “Desperados,” released on their 1985 debut album, dovetailed with their own outlaw legacy: that of aging icons who indulged the young guns their bravado while still beating them on the draw. ‘Delilah’ Creator Craig Wright Teases New OWN Series, Reveals One Of Television’s “Great Gifts”
After wrapping up five seasons of Greenleaf for OWN , creator Craig Wright said he and his creative team were ready to tackle a larger project. “We just wanted to make something bigger and more broader and we wanted to ask more questions about where society’s headed, and how Black women and Black Americans are going to continue being a major part of the unfolding of American history,” he said. ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Storms The Great Wall Of China As Awareness Campaign Jumps To Light Speed – Photos
Disney is pulling out all the stops to ensure Chinese audiences are well primed for the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens , staging a massive event last night on the Great Wall. The trailer for the film , which was released Monday in most of the world, debuted on the Juyongguan section of the Wall on Tuesday night local time. As the promo drew to a close, 500 Stormtroopers appeared and four Chinese characters, pronounced in English as “yuan,” “li,” “jue,” “xing” and meaning “The Force Awakens,” shone from four beacon towers at the landmark. Red and blue lightsabers were also handed out to fans. Check out more photos below. (The Great Wall is increasingly used to increase awareness for Hollywood films – Minions ‘ henchmen were recently seen frolicking there.)
