THE Great British Bake Off remains, for many, the highlight of their summer, but in recent years, the show's Christmas special has also been a treat for baking fans. And it looks like this year's Christmas special will be no different as stars from 2017 and 2016 reunite one final time. Here's the lowdown on who's back in the tent... Who are The Great Christmas Bake Off 2018 contestants? Liam Charles Hackney-born Liam was a fan favourite on GBBO in 2017 but failed to reach the final after being eliminated in week 8. Since the show finished, the star hosted his own show, Liam Bakes, which started on Channel 4 last month and is a six-part series starring Liam and his baking brilliance. The Great British Bake Off is back and the ovens will be turned on for the new BBC 1 series at 8pm on Wednesday August 5, and cake-loving funny woman Jo Brand will also be back on BBC 2 next Friday with spin-off show An Extra Slice. JAMES Cochran has been wowing audiences on The Great British Menu with his impressive recipes. This is despite the fact the talented chef has blasted the owners of his former restaurant after they trademarked his name and sold the rights to his signature recipes. Here's the lowdown... Who is James Cochran? Born and raised in Whitstable, James Cochran's first job as a chef was at a local Kent restaurant called Wheelers Oyster Bar. After moving to London, he spent five years at the renowned 2-star Michelin restaurant The Ledbury before opening his eponymous restaurant in 2016 to critical acclaim. This year, he's embarked upon a new venture in Islington called Restuarant 1251 but James claims he cannot now use his own name to promote his new restaurant because it is still trademarked. 16 minutes ago Netflix rolls out a slew of original programming on a consistent basis, and while it has plenty of scripted shows, it's gained quite a few unscripted originals as well. Now the streaming service has acquired the American rights to one of the most-known cooking competitions out of the U.K., and will also be rolling out quite a few unscripted originals in the near future. Netflix will be the new American home for The Great British Baking Show and will premiere original programs The Final Table, Death by Magic, Sunderland 'Til I Die, Flinch, and Derren Brown: Sacrifice before the end of 2018. Food-loving Netflix subscribers may already be familiar with The Great British Baking Show (or The Great British Bake Off), as the platform has had collections 1-4 (U.K. seasons 4-7) on its service for a while now. New Great British Bake Off coming to Netflix Netflix has acquired the first run streaming rights for British competition series, The Great British Bake Off. The new series will be available on the streamer on August 31 with upcoming seasons all set to be released on Netflix. The second batch of episodes (Netflix collection 6, which is UK season 9) will arrive last this year, a nd in fall 2019 (Netflix collection 7, which is UK season 10). Known in the U.K. as The Great British Baking Show, Bake Off had to switch networks from BBC to Chanel 4, which means that the first season with new hosts Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding, alongside new judge Prue Leith will be the first season to stream on Netflix. When the show jumped networks the only judge to follow the baking show was Paul Hollywood.
