The CNN Originals hub debuted on Discovery+ on Friday, as the new home for the news channel’s streaming library following the abrupt closure of CNN+. The hub was announced earlier this month, and features over 800 episodes of content from CNN Original Series, CNN Films, and HLN Original Series. Additional content will be added after their linear run on the CNN cable networks. Some of the original content that appeared on CNN+ has popped up elsewhere. The documentary The Last Movie Stars , about Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, debuted this summer on HBO Max. Chris Wallace’s talk show, one of the marquee offerings, will return in September on CNN on Sunday nights and on HBO Max. Paramount Global has renewed its U.S. rights deal for UEFA soccer , agreeing to pay $1.5 billion for a six-year extension through 2030. When it was known as ViacomCBS, the company emerged as the surprise winner of a previous auction for UEFA rights, securing a deal through 2024. The matches proved a popular draw on CBS All Access, which was expanded and rebranded as Paramount+ in 2021. Select games have also aired on Paramount networks, including CBS and CBS Sports Network. The new deal, which runs through 2030 and also includes Europa League and the Europa Conference League, is a significant step up, the latest sports rights deal to spike due to surging demand. According to a person familiar with the terms, its annual value rises to $250 million from the current level of $100 million. Lauryn Hill claims she stiffed Uncle Sam on a massive tax bill for the same reason she fell off the map after the '90s -- scary threats to her and her family. Lauryn just filed legal docs asking for mercy before her sentencing later this month, claiming there was a good reason she failed to file tax returns for 2005, '06 and '07 ... when she earned a total of more than $1.8 million.
