EXCLUSIVE : The upcoming second season of HBO ’s House of the Dragon will consist of eight episodes, two fewer than Season 1 of the Critics Choice Award-winning Game of Thrones prequel. It is part of a long-term plan for the show, which includes HBO mulling a green light for a third season, I have learned. The news comes as production is about to begin on Season 2 in the UK for a likely summer 2024 premiere. In what is a relatively common practice, HBO did not reveal the episode order in the Season 2 renewal announcement last summer. I hear the initial plan was for another 10-episode arc, which eventually changed, leading to some script rewrites. Given the leadership change at HBO’s parent company, some pointed at Warner Bros. Discovery leadership’s focus on cost-cutting. An HBO spokesperson, who confirmed to Deadline that Season 2 will contain 8 episodes, stressed that the episode count trim was story-driven. It has been reported that House of the Dragon’s creative … [Read more...] about ‘House Of The Dragon’ To Get Shorter Season 2 As HBO Series Eyes Season 3 Greenlight

‘Daisy Jones & The Six’: Riley Keough & Series Creators On Crafting Final Episodes Around The Band’s Last Performance
SPOILER ALERT! This post contains details from the finale of Prime Video ’s Daisy Jones & The Six. Daisy Jones & The Six have taken their final bow. The curtains closed on the Prime Video series Friday with the release of the final two episodes. They are two of the series’ most ambitious episodes, with the finale weaving together the band’s last performance and what went down to propelled them to the point of no return. Episode 9 begins on a tense note, as Daisy ( Riley Keough ) wakes up from her drug overdose with her husband Nicky by her side. But, of course, she remembers that Nicky wasn’t actually there for her in her time of need. She storms over to Billy’s (Sam Claflin) room to demand he tell her why Nicky wasn’t there to help her. While we don’t see exactly what Billy says, we can only assume he told her the ugly truth, since she leaves his room with rage in her eyes as she kicks Nicky to the curb. “It was a really kind of intense moment,” … [Read more...] about ‘Daisy Jones & The Six’: Riley Keough & Series Creators On Crafting Final Episodes Around The Band’s Last Performance

‘Succession’ Season 4 Premiere: Nicholas Braun On A “Big” & “More Bold” Final Season For Greg
The following interview contains spoilers from tonight’s season four premiere episode of HBO ’s Succession , “The Munsters” It’s been roughly two months since Logan Roy’s son-in-law, Tom Wambsgan (Matthew Macfadyen) snitched on his wife, Shiv Roy (Sarah Snook), and her brothers Kendell (Jeremy Strong) and Roman (Kieran Culkin), that the trio were teaming up against daddy (Brian Cox) to thwart his merger with tech company GoJo. The family remains divided with Shiv, Kendell and Roman on one side, looking to launch a new media company and trying to merge with their father’s former rival and acquisition target, family media brand PGM, led by Nan Pierce (Cherry Jones). Then there’s Tom and Logan’s nephew, Greg Hirsch ( Nicholas Braun ), who are squarely on the side of the Waystar Royco titan, part of his inner circle and being tolerated as we saw tonight at Logan’s debbie downer birthday party. One way that Greg tries to liven up the party is by bringing along … [Read more...] about ‘Succession’ Season 4 Premiere: Nicholas Braun On A “Big” & “More Bold” Final Season For Greg
‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Boss On Season 5 Finale, Plans For June’s Conclusion & ‘The Testaments’
SPOILER ALERT: The story below reveals major plot points from Hulu ’s The Handmaid’s Tale Season 5 finale. Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale wrapped up its fifth season tonight and while a lot has changed for June Osborne ( Elisabeth Moss ), the season ends in ways similar to how it all began. When viewers first meet June, she is torn apart from her husband Luke (O-T Fagbenle) and the life they shared with their daughter Hannah—a scene that’s imitated in the Season 5 finale. June and her daughter Nichole board a train for an unknown future in Hawaii as Luke is arrested by the authorities. His arrest is unfair considering Luke was saving his wife from a man attempting to kill her by running her over in his truck but here we are—the world is crumbling. It’s worth noting the hired hitman was sent by Gilead to dispose of the thorn in their side once and for all but failed. If June was a cat, she’d be down to three lives if my math is accurate. A big part of her she’s … [Read more...] about ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Boss On Season 5 Finale, Plans For June’s Conclusion & ‘The Testaments’
‘Shadow And Bone’ Season 2 Debuts At No. 2 On Netflix Top 10; Korean Drama ‘The Glory’ Is Most-Viewed Title For Second Week
You Season 4 continues its reign over the Netflix Top 10, despite the debut of Shadow and Bone Season 2 last week. The fantasy series hit the streamer’s English-language TV chart at No. 2 for the week of March 13-19, tallying 50.4M hours viewed in the days since its March 16 debut. It struggles to hold a flame to the 64.1M hours viewed that You Season 4 drew during that week. It’s worth noting that the final five episodes of You Season 4 dropped the week prior, meaning that they had an entire week’s worth of viewing to account for while Shadow and Bone Season 2 only had four days. It’s totally possible (and likely) that viewership for Shadow and Bone will grow week-over-week. However, You Season 4 still seems to be outperforming overall considering it racked up 75.8M hours viewed last week, when the measurement window only included the first four days after the final five episodes hit the platform. In terms of episodes available, You Season 4 has … [Read more...] about ‘Shadow And Bone’ Season 2 Debuts At No. 2 On Netflix Top 10; Korean Drama ‘The Glory’ Is Most-Viewed Title For Second Week
‘Outer Banks’ Leads Nielsen U.S. Streaming Chart After Season 3 Debut, ‘The Last Of Us’ Dominates Acquired Programming With Episode 7
Outer Banks took over Nielsen’s U.S. streaming chart for the week of February 20 to 26. Following the release of Season 3 on February 23, the Netflix series drew nearly 3.2B viewing minutes during that measurement interval. According to Nielsen, nearly 1B of those viewing minutes (roughly a third) came from Seasons 1 and 2, suggesting that the release of the third installment attracted many new viewers as well as re-watchers. Nielsen doesn’t generally indicate viewing by season, so this gives interesting insight into how much of the viewing from this interval came from Season 3. Netflix self-reported that all three seasons were among its Top 10 English-language series for that week. Audiences were also enthralled by Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal , which generated about 1.4B viewing minutes and came in at No. 2 on the overall streaming list. Once again, HBO’s The Last of Us is putting up a strong showing, moving back up to third place on the charts this … [Read more...] about ‘Outer Banks’ Leads Nielsen U.S. Streaming Chart After Season 3 Debut, ‘The Last Of Us’ Dominates Acquired Programming With Episode 7
