One of my favorite theatrical experiences was seeing the 2014 Godzilla at a screening packed with college students on the brink of finals week. When the titular Titan used his atomic breath for the first time — something I, a Godzilla newbie, had no idea was coming — the entire theatre lost it’s collective mind and all screamed/roared along with our pal Godzilla. As a result, no matter what you think of Gareth Edwards’ first foray into blockbusters, I’ll always have a fondness for it. Couple that with strong affection for the other entry into the Monster ‘Verse, Kong: Skull Island, and you’ve got one very excited fan. The first trailer for the upcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters was exquisite; the frightening imagery set to “Clair de Lune” was an excellent marketing choice. This second trailer, released today, focuses more on the plot of the film rather than teasing the monsters, though rest assured, there are plenty of monsters … [Read more...] about Godzilla Faces A Few Familiar Foes In New Godzilla: King Of The Monsters Trailer
Godzilla vs muto
It appears that Warner Bros. and Legendary took Dr. Ishiro Serizawa’s line “let them fight” from Godzilla (2014) to heart. The new trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which follows the stunning teaser debut from this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, promises monster mayhem like never before. Directed by Michael Dougherty, who previously tackled monsters of a much smaller variety in Trick ‘r Treat (2007) and Krampus (2015), Godzilla: King of the Monsters not only reintroduces the titular kaiju, but also favorites like Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah from Toho’s beloved franchise. It’s been four years since Gareth Edwards rebooted Godzilla, establishing the Monsterverse that will ultimately see King Kong from Kong: Skull Island (2017) collide with Godzilla in 2020’s epic-slug fest, Godzilla vs. Kong. But before that, we have King of the Monsters which is promising to be just as much of a main event as any battle Kong could stir up for … [Read more...] about How ‘King of Monsters’ Looks to Deliver the Definitive Godzilla
Does the Loch Ness Monster actually exist alongside Godzilla? Laugh all you want, but this might actually be a thing. Godzilla: King of the Monsters is set to arrive in theaters next year and will herald the arrival of other beloved Toho monsters such as Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah. But some new evidence from an official website associated with the movie suggests that the famed Scottish water-dwelling beast may exist alongside these creatures in what has been dubbed the MonsterVerse. For those who have seen movies like 2014's Godzilla and last year's Kong: Skull Island, an organization known as Monarch helps to connect these movies together within the same, shared universe. The organization's website, which is mostly just a viral marketing tool used by Warner Bros. for MonsterVerse purposes, has a feature that allows fans to track Godzilla's whereabouts, in addition to other MUTOs (Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organisms). One such location of an undisclosed MUTO is listed as … [Read more...] about Godzilla 2 Brings the Loch Ness Monster Into the MonsterVerse?
Post-production on Godzilla: King of the Monsters has officially been completed ahead of its May 2019 release date. 2014’s Godzilla was a mammoth hit when it was released in theaters, earning an impressive $529 million at the worldwide box office. Almost exactly five years later, its sequel, subtitled King of the Monsters, is crashing into theaters and from what we’ve seen so far, it seems to be doubling down on the monster mayhem. Whereas Godzilla fought the MUTO monsters in the 2014 film, the iconic monster will now be going up against some of the most famous characters from his history. 32 seconds ago There are plenty of monsters living in Warner Bros' MonsterVerse franchise (as one would expect with a name like that), but two reign above the rest. In 2014, Godzilla's eponymous beast roared back onto American screens to dispatch the MUTOs, and last year, Kong: Skull Island wound the clock back to 1973 to show King Kong retaliating against the humans who bombed his home and battling Skullcrawlers. In 2020, these two will finally face off in the appropriately-titled, Adam Wingard-directed Godzilla vs. Kong. While this won't be the first time that Godzilla and King Kong have crossed paths in cinematic history, it is the first time it's going down in a Hollywood franchise. Naturally Godzilla vs. Kong's main draw will be seeing those two monsters engaged in battle and possibly teaming up to fight a greater threat. But naturally, there will be humans around to witness this conflict, and with that in mind, we've assembled this list of all the actors who've been … [Read more...] about Godzilla Vs.
