EXCLUSIVE: D.K. Uzoukwu, Telma Hopkins , Jay Wilkison and Norah Murphy have joined the cast of Amazon Freevee ’s Clean Slate as series regulars. They join previously announced stars Laverne Cox and George Wallace. Clean Slate follows old-school and outspoken car wash owner Harry Slate (Wallace), who is thrilled his estranged child is finally returning home to Alabama after 17 years away. However, he has a lot of soul-searching to do when the child he thought was a son returns as the determined, proud, trans woman Desiree (Cox). Uzoukwu will play Louis, a closeted gay choir director at the local church who the older female congregants insist on trying to fix up. Game of Thrones star Iwan Rheon is one of nine joining the cast of Peacock’s epic gladiator drama Th o se About to Die , as principal photography on the Roland Emmerich show kicked off at Rome’s historic Cinecittà Studios. Rheon, best known as Ramsay Bolton in Game of Thrones , has has been cast as ambitious crime boss Tenax and will replace Lorenzo Richelmy , who dropped out over scheduling conflicts. Rheon is appearing in The Magic Flute and has appeared in the BAFTA-winner Misfits and Netflix’s The Dirt . BAFTA has pulled the curtain back on its Television Awards nominations, and This Is Going To Hurt and The Responder are leading the chase for a famous bronze mask. The BBC dramas each have six nominations across the BAFTA Television Awards and BAFTA Television Craft Awards, including Leading Actor for Ben Whishaw and Martin Freeman. Whishaw plays junior doctor Adam Kay in This Is Going To Hurt , which was co-produced by AMC. Freeman features as an urgent response police officer in The Responder . This Is Going To Hurt is nominated for Mini Series, while The Responder will compete in the Drama Series race. Adam Kay and Tony Schumacher will both do battle in the Writer: Drama category at the BAFTA Television Craft Awards. Andrew Lloyd Webber has announced the death of his eldest son Nicholas Lloyd Webber from gastric cancer. “I am shattered to have to announce that my beloved elder son Nick died a few hours ago in Basingstoke Hospital. His whole family is gathered together and we are all totally bereft. Thank you for all your thoughts during this difficult time.” The son’s illness was disclosed earlier this week by Lloyd Webber when the composer announced that he would miss the Broadway opening of his latest musical Bad Cinderella in order to remain by a hospitalized Nicholas. Andrew Lloyd Webber turned 75 on the night of the March 22 opening. Nicholas Lloyd Webber was 43 and had recently been moved from hospital to hospice care.
