Anthony Hopkins is stepping into the gladiatorial arena with his latest role. The two-time Oscar winner has joined Those About To Die , the epic period drama from Roland Emmerich for Peacock . Hopkins, who won Oscars for The Father and Silence of the Lambs, will play Emperor Vespasian in the drama, which scored a straight-to-series order last summer. Production will begin at Cinecitta Studios in Rome in March. The series, which is inspired by Daniel Mannix’s eponymous nonfiction book, is a large-scale drama set within the spectacular, complex and corrupt world of gladiatorial sports in Ancient Rome. It introduces an ensemble of diverse characters across the many layers of Roman society where sports, politics and business intersect and collide. Netflix ’s Cobra Kai has been renewed for a sixth and final season. The final run, which promises to be “the biggest and baddest” season of all, is set to begin production in late spring, Deadline hears. The news was announced Friday in a letter to fans by series creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (read it below). In it, the trio shared a tribute to the world of The Karate Kid , a universe they loved so much as kids when they couldn’t have imagined they’d one day grow up to expand into a six-season series. Not only did they bring the stories of underdog-turned-hero Daniel LaRusso ( Ralph Macchio ) and misunderstood bully Johnny Lawrence ( William Zabka ) to legions of OG fans, they also inspired a whole new generation. Power Book II: Ghost received an early Season 4 renewal at Starz ahead of its third season premiere on March 17. Season 4 is currently in production in New York with the addition of Michael Ealy ( Barbershop , Takers ) who joins the cast in a series regular role. Ealy will portray Detective Don Carter, a rising NYPD officer who was on track to become Police Commissioner until his wife was killed in a crossfire between rival drug gangs.  Vowing to make the streets safer, Carter traded in his tie for a kevlar vest and now leads an elite NYPD drug task force that elicits concrete results against drug-related violence.  While his achievements are noteworthy public recognition, nothing can bring back his lost love.
