News 12 dominated with 80 nominations for the 65th annual New York Emmy Awards nominations, which were revealed today. The NY chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences said Telemundo’s WNJU squeezed past Univision’s WXTY for second place, 53 noms to 52. Spectrum News NY1 and MSG Networks tied for fourth place with 45 nominations apiece, just ahead of WNBC News’ 44. The winners will be honored at a ceremony in October, with a date and venue TBA. The gala will be livestreamed on the New York Emmys website. The 66th BFI London Film Festival has set Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical as its Opening Night Gala. Directed by Matthew Warchus and starring Emma Thompson , Lashana Lynch, Stephen Graham, Andrea Riseborough, Sindhu Vee and Alisha Weir as the eponymous Matilda, the film will have its world premiere on October 5 at the Southbank Centre in the Royal Festival Hall. Sony Pictures UK and TriStar release theatrically in the UK on December 2. Netflix will release the film elsewhere during the holiday season. Kanye West is being sued for the unauthorized use of a sample on his latest album, Donda 2 , marking yet another copyright infringement claim filed against the polarizing rapper. As first reported by Billboard , a complaint filed in the U.S. District Court in New York claims West’s song “Flowers” unlawfully samples the 1986 club hit “Move Your Body” (a.k.a. “The House Music Anthem”). Universal Music Group has agreed to a deal with Frank Zappa ’s family to acquire the legendary rocker-composer’s entire estate, including his prolific catalog, film archive, publishing rights and his enormous “Vault” of unreleased material. The agreement between Universal Music Publishing Group, Universal Music Enterprises — which has distributed Zappa’s posthumous releases for the past decade — and the Zappa Family Trust also includes the rights to Zappa’s name and unmistakable likeness. Pink Floyd have finally announced the release date for the long-delayed reissue of their classic 1977 LP Animals . Animals 2018 Remix will arrive starting Sept. 16, with the Orwellian concept album also receiving its first-ever 5.1 Stereo Sound release. While the reissue doesn’t feature any bonus tracks, it does include a polished-up mix overseen by engineer James Guthrie of the original five-song album on CD, vinyl, Blu-ray, and SACD.
