Ron DeSantis & Kari Lake Get Drag Makeovers As ‘The Daily Show’ Brings In ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Star To Help
Here’s a crossover for fans of The Daily Show and RuPaul’s Drag Race. The Comedy Central series and the VH1 show, which was just renewed for season 15, are coming together to drag the Republican party over its recent comments on, well, drag. The Daily Show correspondent Dulcé Sloan and RuPaul star Kerri Colby, who appeared on season 14, are helping the likes of Florida governor Ron DeSantis, Kari Lake, who is running to become Arizona governor, and Michigan Republican Beau LaFave to find their inner drag queens. It comes after DeSantis filed a complaint against a Miami restaurant for letting children into a drag brunch event. Lake, meanwhile, has attacked drag queens during campaigning, despite previously partying with drag queen Richard Stevens, otherwise known as Barbra Seville, who was dressed as Marilyn Monroe at the time. Beau LaFave recently announced a new bill that would empower parents to sue public schools that expose their children to drag shows. … [Read more...] about Ron DeSantis & Kari Lake Get Drag Makeovers As ‘The Daily Show’ Brings In ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Star To Help
Canadian Filmmaker Calls The Kashmir Files ‘Garbage’
Recently, during the promotions of Dobaaraa , filmmaker Anurag Kashyap opened up about India's official entry to Oscars and said that he hopes The Kashmir Files does not become India's official entry to the Academy Awards. In an interview with Galatta Plus, Anurag said, "India might actually have a nomination in the final five if RRR is the film they pick. I don't know what film anybody is going to pick. I hope not The Kashmir Files." (sic) As expected, his statement did not go down well with Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri and he slammed the Gangs Of Wasseypur director on Twitter. He tweeted, "Important: The vicious, genocide-denier lobby of Bollywood has started their campaign against #TheKashmirFiles for #Oscars, under the leadership of the maker of #Dobaaraa." (sic) Reacting to Agnihotri's tweet, a Canadian filmmaker Dylan Mohan Gray tweeted, "Yeah, actually it's (hatemongering, revisionist) garbage of no artistic merit and will be a further embarrassment … [Read more...] about Canadian Filmmaker Calls The Kashmir Files ‘Garbage’

‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Sets Returning Series Regular Cast For Season 19; Find Out Who Is Not Coming Back Full-Time
Grey’s Anatomy’ s Season 18 finale left the fate of several major characters in limbo, leaving fans to fret over the summer if their favorites are coming back. Deadline already broke the news that star Ellen Pompeo will be scaling back her on-screen presence, appearing in eight episodes next season while remaining an executive producer. Also switching from a series regular to recurring status for Season 19 is Scott Speedman . The news is not surprising; the former Animal Kingdom star had signed a one-year series regular contract for Season 18 as a romantic interest for Pompeo’s Meredith. At the end of the Season 18 finale, Meredith and Speedman’s Nick had a falling out, she told him that he should probably go back to Minnesota. He walked out, she eventually ran after him but he was gone in one of the finale’s many cliffhangers. Tom Sherak Q&A: Cancer Battle And $1 Salary Not Stopping New L.A. Film Czar’s Latest Quest
As my colleague Dominic Patten was first to report earlier today on Deadline, former Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak has been named to the new post of LA Film Czar by Mayor Eric Garcetti. Sherak will be paid only $1 a year (“an infinity compared to what the Academy paid,” he laughed about his previous nonpaying gig) in the post designed to bring a halt to runaway production and put it back in Los Angeles, capital of the film world. Of course Sherak is no stranger to politics, of a sort: Being a former President of the Motion Picture Academy is no walk in the park. He knows the real “capital” is Sacramento, where he will spend time trying to convince Gov. Jerry Brown and lawmakers this is an important issue — not only for Los Angeles but California as a whole. In a conversation that turned very personal this afternoon, Sherak told me he initially resisted the job but took it only after a meeting with Garcetti this week and an OK from his … [Read more...] about Tom Sherak Q&A: Cancer Battle And $1 Salary Not Stopping New L.A.
