Göteborg’s Nordic Film Market Unveils 2023 Lineup

The Göteborg Film Festival has unveiled the 53 Nordic Films that will take part in the latest edition of the Nordic Film Market , running February 2 – 5. Scroll down for the list. The line-up consists of 17 completed feature films, 15 works in progress, 11 films in development presented at the market’s co-financing platform Discovery, and another 10 features in development from up-and-coming Swedish creators at Talent to Watch. The 2023 edition of Nordic Film Market will comprise a full on-site event in Göteborg alongside digital screenings on the festival’s dedicated industry platform. This year the festival has said close to 500 invited buyers, distributors, sales agents, producers, festival programmers, and other key industry delegates from 32 countries are expected to attend. Microsoft Laying Off 10,000 As Tech Cuts Continue

Microsoft said today it plans to lay off 10,000 employees to “align our cost structure with our revenue and where we see customer demand.” “We are making changes that will result in the reduction of our overall workforce by 10,000 jobs through the end of FY23 Q3. This represents less than 5 percent of our total employees,” said CEO Satya Nadella in a memo to employees posted on the company blog. Microsoft has a June fiscal year, so its third quarter ends in March. The software giant is also taking a $1.2 billion charge. It’s the latest in a wave of layoffs from — Alphabet to Amazon to Facebook — to hit the tech sector last year, with over 150,000 estimated in 2022. ‘Sometimes I Think About Dying’ Director Rachel Lambert Signs With Range Media Partners

EXCLUSIVE: After helping get this years Sundance Film Festival off the ground with the festival’s opening night movie, Sometimes I Think About Dying, director Rachel Lambert has signed with Range Media Partners. Lambert along with the films star, Daisy Ridley have earned raves following the premiere and the project is now being eyed by several buyers who attended opening night. The pic is also competing in the U.S. Dramatic Competition. “I’m excited to have the dynamism and innovative spirit of an organization like Range at my side as I move forward as a storyteller,” said Lambert. I like travelling and touring and being in other places for periods of time, but Auckland feels like home to me,” Liz Stokes, lead singer of The Beths, told Rolling Stone AU/NZ last year. Tāmaki Makaurau means a lot to the power-pop four-piece; despite regularly touring the world as one of New Zealand’s most successful exports of recent years, they still like to call only one place home. The nominations for the 29th Annual GLAAD Media Awards were announced today with awards season favorites Call Me By Your Name and Lady Bird as well as television standouts This Is Us and The Handmaid’s Tale getting recognized for their fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of the LGBTQ community and the issues that affect their lives.
