Sunglasses brand Oakley is stepping up its (basketball) game this season with the launch of a new partnership with Portland Trail Blazers star (and hip-hop recording artist ) Damian Lillard . The partnership kicks off with the re-release of Oakley’s iconic “ X Metal Romeo and Juliet ” frames, the brand’s first-ever wire frame sunglasses. Popularized in the nineties as part of Oakley’s 1875 X Metal Edition collection, the frames were often seen on A-list athletes and musicians, who liked the shades for their sleek, sculptural shape and performance-minded features. As part of Oakley’s new partnership with Lillard, the brand is re-issuing two pairs of the “X Metal Romeo and Juliet” sunglasses in a super limited-edition set. The set include two pairs of the … [Read more...] about Oakley Debuts $14,000 Pair of Sunglasses as Part of New Partnership with Damian Lillard

Pete Buttigieg Has Some Ideas for Overhauling How America Moves Around
Pete Buttigieg , the man now responsible for managing the means by which Americans travel trillions of miles per year, can’t leave his house. Just days after he was confirmed as secretary of transportation, a member of his security detail tested positive for Covid-19, forcing the newly minted Cabinet member to start turning the wheels on his agenda from quarantine. “We’re trying to practice what we preach, right?” he says of the decision to stay home. He’s trying his best to hide his exasperation. A little frustration is understandable. The Covid scare meant Buttigieg had to attend his first Oval Office meeting via flatscreen, and as far as getting a revamped, eco-centric approach to transportation in gear, it was a big one. Biden and a virtual Secretary Pete sat down with a bipartisan group of senators to discuss a new — and hopefully very green — infrastructure bill. Passing one under Trump became a joke (remember “Infrastructure Week”?), but with coastal highways collapsing and … [Read more...] about Pete Buttigieg Has Some Ideas for Overhauling How America Moves Around
‘Wandavision’ Series Finale Recap: The Lyin’, the Witch and the Wardroid
A review of the WandaVision finale coming up just as soon as I say that debriefs are for the weak… Yesterday, I wrote an essay praising WandaVision for leaning into its existence as a television show, rather than a Marvel Cinematic Universe film drawn out to fill up nine episodes. With an episode aptly titled “The Series Finale,” WandaVision concludes very much in MCU territory, a bit for good and more for ill. It’s not just that we’ve long since left the sitcom conceit behind(*), but that the bulk of the extra-long finale was devoted to action spectacle, with Wanda battling Agatha Harkness, the fantasy Vision trying to hold off his ghostly doppelganger, and Tyler Hayward and his SWORD team breaching the Hex in an attempt to clean up their mess. How PR Professionals Can Change the Conversation Around Cannabis
I’ve been a public relations professional my entire career; in full transparency, I ran PR for Rolling Stone and its former owner, Wenner Media, twice. Similar roles at other iconic publications like Playboy demonstrated to me the power of the media to impact, educate and influence public opinion as a result. Playboy changed the way people looked at sex. Rolling Stone changed the way a generation looked at sex, drugs, and rock & roll. To say nothing of how an advertising campaign designed specifically to change how advertisers looked at their readership, “perception and reality” succeeded beyond anyone’s wishes. Now, in 2021, I believe we, as communication professionals, need to build upon our relationships with the media partners we work with to change the way people look at cannabis . As states continue to enact legislation to legalize it for medical and recreational use, it is still stuck in a time warp in many people’s minds. Let’s look at the last 50 years of how … [Read more...] about How PR Professionals Can Change the Conversation Around Cannabis
