TMZ.com Jamie Foxx 's 2016 project about two basketball fanatics has been sitting on a shelf for years ... and the actor thinks cancel culture is why it hasn't seen the light of day. Jamie stars alongside Jeremy Piven in "All-Star Weekend" -- a flick about two superfans who snag tickets to the NBA event out in Los Angeles ... it was supposed to debut in 2019, but it still hasn't come out, and no official word on the holdup. Jamie thinks he knows why the movie's been delayed, telling CinemaBlend that the material may simply not be woke enough for the current climate ... August 17, 2022 by deadline.com

That sigh of relief you just heard after LeBron James ’ two-year contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers was announced was from execs at the NBA, TNT, ABC & ESPN. The deal will keep the league’s marquee player in the league for at least two more years — health permitting. It means the 37-year-old James, who is “box office” in the parlance of ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith, will remain a player on the league’s marquee team through 2024, and possibly longer. That’s good for ratings, even if the Lakers can’t make the playoffs. The agreement, as announced by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, is for “a two-year, $97.1 million contract extension – including a player option for the 2024-2025 season. James had been entering final year of deal worth $44.5M.” The Lakers superstar will become “the highest earning player in NBA history with $532M in guaranteed money,” surpassing Brooklyn’s Kevin Durant, according to Wojnarowski. James, of course, has a thriving career outside … [Read more...] about LeBron James Signs $97M, Two-Year Extension With Lakers; Deal Pushes Star’s NBA Earnings Past $500M

‘She-Hulk: Attorney At Law’ Review: Verdict Is A Laugh-Out-Loud TKO For Tatiana Maslany’s Marvel Comedy

August 17, 2022 by deadline.com

As its title suggests, She-Hulk: Attorney At Law is a subversive delight. Unleashing a healthy serving of Dorothy Parker tinged satire, and lovingly pulling on the decades of network legal drama tropes, the Tatiana Maslany -led comedy from Rick and Morty vet Jessica Gao rapturously cavorts around the superhero genre, breaking the fourth wall and expectations. Now, addressing the audience here, is lifted from the comics where the character originated back in 1980. So, Deadpool and Fleabag fans, that’s true to the source material. There’s also a lot of high quality CGI, transparent deriding of City of Angels superficiality, and dating app rituals. Amidst all that, the overriding takeaway is She-Hulk is really funny – which might be exactly what we all need right now. The fact is humor has long been Marvel ’s secret weapon. Truly inaugurated by the genius of Robert Downey Jr’s insecure and simultaneously arrogant Tony Stark in 2008’s Iron Man , the … [Read more...] about ‘She-Hulk: Attorney At Law’ Review: Verdict Is A Laugh-Out-Loud TKO For Tatiana Maslany’s Marvel Comedy
